Most Accurate 7mm Bullet

I set up a Ruger 77 Laminate Stock Tang Safety 7 Rem mag with a 4.5-14 and left it at an out of state hunting destination. No more BS when I fly! After bedding it, adding a Timney trigger and trying a bunch of handloads it is a hammer.
The 160 gr. Sierra HPBT Game King will consistently put 5 into less than 2" at 250 yards. The guy I left the rifle with has shot several .6" groups at 100 yards. It did well with Ballistic Tips and almost as well with 150 grain Partitions. At 7 Rem mag velocities the Sierra GKHP has been lights out on deer and wild hogs. The BC is the issue, where I hunt the shots are limited to about 300 yards so all is well. I shot one 190# Axis Deer with the 150 gr Partition and that worked great, as Partitions always have for me.
Myself and several other hand loaders I work with have great accuracy with the 120 gr Ballistic Tip, regardless of cartridge, great results on Coyotes, no trials on deer. My cousin really likes the 168 Bergers out of his Cooper 280 AI.
I do not have any heavy barrel Target Rifles in a 7 mm, can only give you data on hunting rifles.

I shoot 140 nosler bt in my 7-08 at about 1/4". I run 140 Berger hunting in my 7 rem mag at about the same for deer. The 162 in my 7 rem mag is the bullet I use. I know how it shoots and no dout where it'll hit.
7 mag 140s

7-08 140s 5 shots

I don't know if there is one singular 7mm bullet heads and tails above the rest. What creates accuracy are three components 1. The shooter 2. The rifle and load 3. The gear being used. One bullet that shoots great out of a specific rifle may not be repeatable in another rifle. You will need to find what works best for you.

i shoot the lap scenar180 grn plenty of .3 groups and many better.what i like is i can put any where from 52 -53 grains of powder in and groups stay tight also its very jump tolerant its shoots well 10 tho off right back to 70 tho where the es came down and speed whent up.whilst some might claim bergers are better i have found them fussy by comparison .

What is the most accurate 7mm bullet you have used?

Pics and details welcome.

Not concerned by BC, just raw accuracy.

Thanks!

Terry

Terry, my family and I shoot a hunting load on deer that is really nothing short of fantastic:
Rem 700's:
Rem brass
9 1/2 primer
42g of IMR 4895
130g Speer BTSP
3000 fps
Shoots bug holes with the bullet touching the lands
Deer flop, and I mean flop

We have converted a lot of 7/08 deer hunters to this load after they tried a box just for accuracy, then after killing with them, they are sold on the bullet.

My rilfes have all been shooting the 180s very well. 5-shots into a high 2 is common.

I also am seeing lots of promise with the 195s. I'm almost there with a load, shooting them out of a 8.25 twist barrel.

Which 180s?

2" at what distance?

Just recently I switched over to H4350 in my 284 Shehane as H4831sc just wasn't working for me. Well here's a test sample of 15 shots at 300 yards with the Berger 180 hybrid.

Wow... that's pretty darn amazing James. Any chance you could post a photo of your .284 Shehane and your rest set-up.

Here's the rifle. It's a Bat M Brux 1.250 straight at 30" Harrell brake all in a McMillan MBR stock. The rest I use now is a JJ not the Sinclair in the picture.

Here is the chrono readings while testing last week.

Terry if you look at the results of F-Class and benchrest, you will see the most competitors are using Berger 180 VLD's and Hybrids. Now this is at 1000 yards. There has to be a reason for this. The new 195 might be the game changer. I think a lot has to do with what bullet used, is the distance you want to shoot at. What's good for 1000 may not be the same for 100 or hunting. Matt

Thanks to all!

Your results are very impressive.

I appreciate your willingness to share.

Again

Thank You!

Terry

I use the Sierra 180 MK, out of a .284, and I hold 3 Grand Senior National Mid-Range Prone Records. I am a sling shooter and OLD (73), but they make it seem easy. Nobody tells me to use Burger's any more. At 800, 900 and 1000 yards, shoot High Master scores all of the time.

Will the sierras stabilize in a 9 twist barrel?
