Most Accurate 7mm Bullet

Terry

What is the most accurate 7mm bullet you have used?

Pics and details welcome.

Not concerned by BC, just raw accuracy.

Thanks!

Terry

Majority of people are going to say the Berger 180gr vld and hybrid. The new berger 195gr looks good too, but I haven't seen any results on paper for it yet.

Don't limit your thoughts to the 180 class bullets.

I'm interested in all 7mm bullets for accuracy.

Im pretty excited about the 195 berger customers and I are using in the 28 nosler hunting rifles Ive built in the last few weeks. They have consistently held 2-3" verticle at 1025 yds off the bipod w the load I found. They are going 3100-3150 fps depending on the barrel. I had one customer send me a 10 shot group at 600 that was under 2" off the bipod in his 28 nosler hunting rifle. 18 moa to 1000 and only 41" of drift in a 10 mph wind at my altitude, 700 ft. Im going elk hunting here soon and its 16 moa to 1000 and only 26" of drift at a 1000 at the 10,000 ft altitude we will be at. Freakin laser, lol.

130 gr Sierra MK's are the most accurate out of mine, followed closely by 140 gr Berger VLD's.

Great! This is what I'm looking for.

Tell us more. Rifle, caliber, distance from target, etc.

Sierra 120 gn ProHunter, Sierra 130 gn MatchKing and Nosler 120 gn Ballistic Tip. I settled on the 120 gn ProHunter as a dual purpose hunting / target load. The attached photo is the last 200 yard group that I shot a couple of weeks ago. The rifle is a tuned up TC Encore with 24" Bergara barrel - nothing fancy, but it is accurate and reliable in the field.

120 grain Sierra PH Details:
* H-4895: 40.0 grains
* Remington 9-1/2 LR Primer
* 0.009" Jump
* Velocity = 2,874 fps

Hi Terry. The rifle is a Remington 700 SPS with the factory 7-08 varmint barrel in an HS Precision stock. Timney trigger and Vortex PST 6-24. The target pictured was at 100 yds off of a bench with a Harris bipod. That particular target is cherry-picked, but it would normally shoot in the 3's for 5. My load was .015" off jam (2.845" COAL), in front of 43.0 gr of IMR 4007 with a CCI BR2 using LC Match brass. An absolute pussycat load. It chrono'ed at 2620 fps per my notes.

The Berger load I'm using is the same components as above, with a much stiffer load of IMR 4007. I'd rather not put this charge weight out here. Again, .015" off jam, but with a COAL of 2.940". It chrono's at 3030 fps. Groups are just under .5" for 5 at 100 yds.

I've gotten my money's worth out of this barrel, but it's starting to show it's age. I haven't borescoped it yet, but it's currently sitting on just over 2600 rounds. I can imagine :o.

7-08 needs 162 a max, might try the the 150 Sierra also, the 139 gmx superperformace is good for hunting

120g Nosler HBT, 140g Nosler HBT, 140g sierra game king, 140g Barnes tsx...all print sub moa in my 22" sporter bbl.
All proven at the range and dropping antelope/deer in both the Savage 7-08s.

180 Hybrids, RL17 powder works best for me. ES & SD is unbelievably low. 2,920 fps with no pressure signs.

we have 7 rifles and they all shoot 180 bergers lights out! they all shoot 168 ok but the 180s are better. have tried noslers accrbonds in all of them but it was waste of time and money best groups about 2in @ 100yds!!
