More crap I don't need - 8.6 Blackout edition.

Got the last piece I need to build an 8.6 blackout.

.338 1:3 twist.

I figured since Festivus is right around the corner, we could argue about the unnecessary twist rate.

I did one for a guy recently, this was for a bolt gun though.
I was shocked by the twist rate as well
Ordered a 1:3 only because Faxon was the only place that had one "In stock" ready to ship
The barrel cut real nice, it cut like a Krieger
He was planning on using copper solids
--------------
I did a little research since that cartridge is new to me as well as such a tight twist rate
and from what I gathered that is the twist needed for subsonic speeds
With Heavies
So I suppose the 1:3 covers every scenario and that's whats most commonly offered.
Many other people use like a 1:6 and choose their bullet accordingly for that

Not true. I have a cut rifled McGowen 16" x 1.2" straight 6.5 twist barrel screwed into a Zermatt Origin action and load/shoot 300gr Sierra's with an average velocity of 1,050 fps. I have had Zero issues stabilizing this load. (.338 TBAC Ultra suppressor installed).

This is the kind of info I like but causes me to just "Not get" whats up with the 1:3 twist?
