Micro bed, epoxy

for half a century I have been using Micro Bed, epoxy to bed my stuff, I happen to like it and way back when purchased a coupled of packages from Brownells---

sorry upon sorry, I am running out, does anyone know of a source of it or if someone else is now making it?

Thanks of your info

Bob

I believe that Brownells bought the name, and has stopped producing it. I used it a lot, too, back when you could still get it.

thanks nicholast55,

I guess we have to look for something else, too bad as it was very effective. at one time I worked for and epoxy company that produced them for electronic purposes, basic shell oil components combined and sold in two containers, fillers for strengthening and color. it was the easiest I have ever used and produce very satisfactory results.

I've done a lot of epoxy work over the years building boats, aircraft, and all sorts of stuff. I can say that Devcon 10110 is quite good for action bedding. The viscosity is just about perfect, plenty of working time, it comes in 1# kits (enough for several rifles), it isn't too expensive, and doesn't require any other fillers. Lots of people use it for action bedding, including me. Give it a try.

Check with the guys in Albuquerque, NM that make the single shot followers; I think they have a product similar to Micro-Bad.

A lot of the older epoxies had a tendency to shrink over time. An epoxy that has a very low shrinkage rate is what most rifle builders use today.

Used the devcon for a long time. But switched to marine-tex a year ago. I can get it locally, and its cheaper, like the consistency better than the devcon too. West Marine sells it, but sure others do too

thanks, I live in Fl and maine-tex is available, also think I will try a shot at Pro 2000

your answers have been helpful

have a good day.

Have you worked with splash zone? I wonder if it will work? I couldn't imagine an easier epoxy to work with. I am kicking around trying it but don't want to redo it either.
