Mauser 98 Chassis

Well after a lifetime of waiting for someone to make a Chassis for the Mauser 98 my buddy Lance Humbert from JGS Reamers has made some. I would say they are prototypes at this point. He was gracious enough to make two for me, They take AI style magazines, The cutout for the bolt handle should accommodate many custom bolt handle styles the way he has designed it.

They have a handguard adapter that uses Ar free float clamp on style handguards.

I think he wants to start making these if there is enough interest. He has very little spare time right now though and I hope he is ok with me posting this. I am very excited to start a rifle on one as soon as I get a chance.

I would also like to add, If you have been thinking about buying or ordering a custom or standard reamer, Headspace gauges etc. They have been able to get their lead times much quicker now, Approx 4 to 6 weeks

Here are some pics of his rifles with this Mauser 98 Chassis system he has developed. He posted these pics in a thread he made a few months back. And then the bottom pics are the chassis's he made for me.

Very cool. How's the fitment?
Are they intended to be skim-bedded? Problem with precision chassis' with older milsurps are dimensional variations; manufacturing 75 years ago- especially with rushed wartime production firearms.

There was a Russian company some years ago that tried to do one for the Mosin-Nagants, but there's just too much variation in action screw spacing to fit a precision chassis.

He should do one for the M1903/M1903a3...

My FN Commercial fits good, An Argentine 1909 Action I have fits good. But Yes, There may be small amounts of fitting involved due to the myriads of manufacturers.

And this is for the Large Ring Model 98, Not intermediates or Small rings.

As far as the 1903 goes, Not too many people customize those these days, I doubt there would be much call for them. I would be the first one to want one though.
