Lyman Borescope

Anyone used one or heard what the image quality is like? Grafs has them for $217. To me that sounds cheap for a quality borescope...

I looked all over grafs and I don't see what you are seeing.

Are they available yet? I heard not available til June. I would be willing to be the guinea pig and try it out for you folks with a full review. If I don't like it, I can always return it.

I use my gunsmith's Hawkeye regularly and have tried other cheap and disappointing borescope cams in the past so I have a very good idea of what a quality bore image should be. Accurate Innovations sells a bore scope cam for about $300, but don't waste your money, image is junk. I tried it and I couldn't even see copper fouling. Seeing rifling wear wasn't even an option. Returned it for a full refund the same day it arrived in the mail after trying it out. I expect that with Lyman being a big name company, they will put out a good bore scope so as not to risk their reputation. Anyhow, off I go to buy one if they're available. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

will be waiting .

I'm going to order one in the morning also if they are available. I think it would be great to view on the laptop or possibly on a tv screen.

Well I just ordered one. Had to pay a little more than I planned because all the sites with cheaper prices were out of stock already. Cheapest I found was about $227 (not including shipping) at the out of stock sites, but got mine from Optics Planet for $269 shipped. I figured with how fast they are selling out, I'd better get one while they're still available because vendors will soon realize they can get more for them and the price will go up anyhow. Plus I know Optics Planet customer service is really good and their return policy is solid if I decide I don't like it. Should have it next week some time.

Optics planet lets you add the borecam to the cart but if you look at the fine print it says "please call for availability". I called and they did not have an exact date for availability but asked if I wanted to be placed on the back order list. Lyman website says available in June.

*changing my reply*

I think you're right. Looks like every site is out of stock because nobody has them yet. Just doing their early advertising I guess. Oh well. Guess I might have to wait til June...

On another note, the new Lyman Ammo Tracker chronograph they have coming out looks like a winner too. Well spaced detectors and large LCD remote readout with real time displays of all the calculations. Might have to sell the old Chrony Beta Master and give the new Lyman chronograph a try.

I was talking to them about this thing at the Shot Show and I was told that you could plug this thing, via USB cable, directly into a laptop and view in real time. However, all of the write-ups and ads I'm seeing online are saying that you have to do a snapshot, then save the still image to an SD card, and then put the SD card into the laptop and view the still image.

Viewing in real time on a larger screen via direct USB connection had me excited but if they told me wrong, my excitement is waning.

Regards...

Look up his second link, from Lyman. It says,
$299.95 04055 Borecam Digital Borescope with Monitor Available June 2015

You guys were right. Optics planet is only pre-selling the product. Not available til June, so I cancelled my order.

Just bought a VOscope by Visual Optics Inc. (model VT24-4FLUV) based on a member's experience comparing it to a Hawkeye. Topic is in the "Reloading" forum section under "Video Bore Scope" . The VOscope is a 24" long flexible tube (wish it was rigid), 7400 pixel resolution, has 70° and 90° viewing mirrors, an LED and UV flashlight that attach similar to a Hawkeye and the probe is only 4.3mm wide so it can be used down to 17 cal bores. No monitor, just an eyepiece like the hawkeye or other medical style endoscopes. Which some may see as a disadvantage, but I see it the other way because there are no monitor picture quality limitations. Plan on posting my thoughts of the scope on the other topic when it arrives.

Put my order in at Graf's 2 days ago.
$217 plus $6.95 handling-shipping "free"

I don't expect to see it until Lyman releases it in early June

This is as much as I know.

Anyone got one of these yet? I just ordered one but have not been able to find any reviews yet. If it's not up to snuff I will return it.

It is not available yet. Not sure where you ordered it from but I suspect you will be waiting for a while.
Lyman website says available fall 2015.

Well it's June 8th? ??????
I've been on the notify list at half a dozen places for I guess 6 months. I had done forgot about it. But then, I've already forgotten what I did yesterday also.

Regards.....

Well maybe I have been duped. At first I ordered from Optic Planet. Availability said ships in 1 to 3 days. $269.99. Got an order confirmation from them. Then a few minutes later I found a link to one on MidSouth IN STOCK for $231.14 shipped. Asked OP if they would honor that price under their price guarantee. They said they could but they were out of stock! They never said a thing about being out of stock or backordered when I got my order confirmation. Then she said they might be able to ship from a "warehouse" but if they did that they would not be able to do the lower price, or I could wait until they had them in stock (1 -3 weeks). I got a little ticked and told her to cancel the order and ordered it from MidSouth. Got a confirmation on that and my order status says "processing". Nothing about backorder. I called to see if they actually had the thing and of course they are closed on Saturday. Then I went back to MidSouths web site and did a search with the item number from my order and found nothing! Same when I entered borescopes or bore scopes or Lyman bore scope in the search. Soooo....maybe they are pulling that stunt where they dont tell you until after they have charged your card that they really dont have it in stock yet??? If that is the case I will be hopping mad. I am getting tired of these games.
Update: It did exist at MidSouth and is on its way. :) I have to stop being so skeptical!
