Love for the 308

Hard to find fault with the 308.I have 3.On the light end is a Remington M7 that I special contoured a 19 inch barrel for.Scope, sling and 5 rounds of ammo,it still weighs less than 7 pounds. In the middle is a 700 VTR,the Cabela's edition with a 24 inch triangular barrel without the useless muzzle brake. It's sub MOA and not too bad to carry. The longest and heaviest is a M700 with a Shilen barrel. The new 169 grain Matchkings and AA-2520 powder stay in the .5 MOA range.I haven't got to try them beyond 400 yards yet,but at 400 it turned in a 1.46 inch 5 shot group. The crazy thing is that 4 if them were touching and the flier was almost an inch out.It has to be one of the most inherently accurate cartridges of all time, and it's going on 70 years old.Unmatched versatility and one of the greatest hunting rounds there is.Not many cartridges can do as many things well as the 308.

I'm also in the .308 and 6.5x55 (the original 6.5mm) fan club. I came around to .308 only in the last few years with a Gunsite Scout and a Ruger American. The American is not highly refined cosmetically but Ruger's CHF barrels are just uncommonly accurate for the price. First 3 rounds all touching at a 100y for a "cheap" hunting rifle, and me an average shooter at best.

I really wasn’t looking for another 308 BUT, this rifle has always appealed to me but finding one has been almost impossible. I couldn’t say no when it fell into my lap. I LOVE it!

Got this years hunting season covered. Over the years, I have had gun project after gun project. I’ve tried everything from 7.82 Warbird, 300 Weatherby, 7 MAG, 6.5 Creedmoor, Sherman 6.5 SST and on and on. Years ago, I stated out with the plain vanilla 308 WIN. Talk about the circle of life. I have hit the easy button and I really don’t see myself wanting for more!
I absolutely LOVE both of these rifles. The Borden Mountaineer basesd bolt gun is super accurate and makes 1st round hits on 6” plates out to 400 yards. The Socom is my pig gun. Up close and personal lead slinger. The SRO is always “ right there”. No effort. Just point and pull the trigger.
Cool rifles! I strongly suggest ensuring you don’t shoot that MDT with bare skin on the carbon fiber. Carbon splinters are VERY painful.

Youl only splinter it if your not using it right.
Like as a bat instead of a rifle..lol
Not a big concern

Hey guys new here just got approved last night. I have an Aero Precision AR10 in 308. It has a Dracos barrel from Falkor Defense. The first barrel I had did not shoot so I sent it in and they sent me a new updated version. I have been told it has a Bartlein barrel.

I have been doing load development with the 185g Berger Juggernaut and with Varget and Starline brass it has been impressive. My Alpha 308 brass shows up today and I am excited to try those using the new Winchester Staball Match powder. I will post data and pictures. Thanks for the add!

Saw a picture the other day of our Ukrainian Brothers receiving several cases of 700's with Vortex GE scopes , and you couldn't have wiped off the grins with a Ball Bat . Several cases of Berger 185 Factory Juggs , too . Wonder how those Bergers got there ? Must be a mistake . LOL !
