6.5 Creedmore recoil compared to 308 and 243 cal

All the above info is great advice from experience. That said, HSM does make 243 vld ammo that does do well at 1000 yards. Loaded with Berger bullets and even at 95 grains does do quite well at 1000 yds. I'm not a 243 guy for 1000 yard shooting but a buddy of mine buys that HSM stuff and it is decent factory loaded stuff.

I have built three and everyone of them is a pleasure to shoot and very accurate. Built on Savage, Remington 700 and Remington 783 actions and
everyone one of them will shoot .5 MOA five shot groups and hold 2.5 inches at 500 yards on a good day and me doing my part. I'm 66 and "fragile" and have nary a problem with recoil. Average weight of rifles 8-9 pounds. You'll be impressed with the 6.5 Creedmoor.

My wife and I both shoot 6.5 Creedmoor. She usually stops at around 40 rounds of fire as her shoulder will be somewhat sore. She has no shoulder problems and is 56 years old. I recently added a 'LimbSaver AirTech recoil pad to both rifles and that makes a world of difference. We went to the range and both shot 120 rounds and quit due to length of time we had been at the range (takes a while to shoot that many rounds and change targets). You may also want to consider the .204 caliber rifles for your intended use. Check-out the website 'Varminter.com" for their take on things for coyotes and PD's.
