long range reticle?

Hello
I'm building my first rifle for F-class Long range shooting, most places I will be shooting only have 600yrds but once a month or so I will have a chance to shoot on a 1000yrd range. My question is. I can get a pretty good deal on a new Leupold VXIII 8.5x25x50 LRT but what reticule will work the best my choices are, 1/8 moa dot, fine plex, or varmint hunters.
Also caliber will be 243 with 28" 8 twist pac-noir barrel.I plan on mounting my scope with Burris 30mm sig-zee rings and a warne base.

I shoot F-Class with a 1/8 minute dot and find it great. I ahve also shot a cross hair scope and a mil-dot scope at 1000 yards with no problems. I really think it does not matter as long as you can clearly see the X in the center of the X-ring withwhachever reticle you choose. My Leupold 8.5x25 LRT scope has the 1/8 MOA dot and clearly defines the X at 1000 yards.

Just out of interest, why the 243 Winchester caliber when there are much better 6mm - 6.5mm cartridges which are easier on the barrel?

Thanks for the reply, As to the choice of 243 for a long range cartridge I think it is probably as hard on barrels as the 6.5x284 but I think it will move the 115's faster than the 6br. I will also end up using this as a very long range chuck gun. It will probably not get shot all that much anyway as I all ready shoot silhouette three weekends out of the month now. Thanks again for the info

Might take a good look at the new Tactical Milling Reticle,TMR)Leupold's designed. Fairly fine .5 mil line stadia with .2 mil between the 4th and 5th mil stadia for ranging use. Excellent for windage reference with a tgt. elevation turret-- my favorite long-range reticle these days.
