long range scope

I'm currently building a long range rifle mostly for f-class and am looking at a couple of scopes. I've read the optics reviews on this sight but they don't mention the Leupold MK4 LRT. I have a VXIII 8.5-25 right now but would like a new scope for this gun it's going to be a 6mm something maybe .243 or 6xc or 6-6.5x47. What do you think of the MK4 8.5-25x50 or the 8-32 nightforce nxs and besides the elevation difference between the VXIII and the MK4 is their any optical differences. thanks

I own several Loopys in both Mk4 and LR flavors. They're OK, but the Nightforce scopes spank them! Nightforce will definitely be my next purchase after trying two NXS's,50mm & 56mm) at the club range today. Their BR models might be a better deal for benchrest and F-Class competition, but I shoot Tactical comps.

I suppose you could say that everyones eyes see differently, but IMO the Nightforce glass is superior to any of the Loopys, and three of my Mk4's are the REAL Mk4's. Something that I noticed almost immediately about the NXS's was that they don't have the annoying backlash in the side,Parallax) turret that is prevalent in every Loopy that I've ever used.

Just my .02,
Alan

Thanks
Yea I've been looking at the NXS I think I'd like it better than the benchrest.

Rich,

I think a lot of the 'big dogs' in F-Class are migrating towards the BR model over the NXS... 1/8 minute clicks may be more important w/ the new smaller targets to get better centered up, and I've been told the A/O allows finer adjustment of parallax correction than side-focus.

YMMV,

Monte

You must look at the NEW IOR 9/36x56 with huge 35mm. tube. Optics are great made in Germany and adjustments are spot on. Have compared all the upper end scopes and nothing optically any better. Great scope in my opinion.Any one have any suggestions for spotting scope for 600 to 1000yrd. work.Looking for the best. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

+1 for the Nightforce BR series IMO 12x42 for F-Class

The glass in the IOR is good, BUT the repeatability of the adjustment turrets over several seasons is not up to the Nightforce. In F-Class you're twisting the knobs for every yardline, a lot of wear over a couple of years.

I've had exactly the opposite experience. I've been cranking the knobs on my IOR's for several years, they go right back to zero.

Having said that, the 9-36 is the one IOR out of the whole bunch I wouldn't recommend to anybody. That scope is a known problem child. The 3-18 and 6-24 35mm tubes are outstanding though.

I use the 3-18 for 1k F-Class, no problem, and the center dot is small enough to hold the X at 1k.
