Leupold 45x

Sent a Leupold 45x Competition scope back for repair 1 month ago. The side focus would not focus clearly at 25-100 yds. I called them and got RMA # .
After 2 1/2 weeks they called me said they were sorry but my scope was Unrepairable and they stopped making all their target scopes December 2023 ? Therefore they will no longer repair them ! Told me that they will send me a Leopold Mark4 8-32 MOA reticle as a replacement mine was a 1/8 Dot reticle. He told me that they don't make a 1/8 Dot reticle any more ! Then he told me that they don't have any Mark 4 8-32 MOA scopes in stock and couldn't tell 8when they would be !
Leupold I am very unhappy your warranty SUCKS !!! If they had told me this when I called to have them repair it I would NOT have sent it to them!! I would've sent it to someone who could've repaired it !!!!

I guess that's what they mean by lifetime warranty, that scope model is dead and so is your warranty. I almost bought one of those 45x last year when there were still a few around, glad I didn't.

Same here, there sending a Mark5 twice the price of the 45x but not much use to me. Leupold 45s have served my well for years. Is there someone out there that can repair the 36 and 45 scopes.
Tim

Man, I get it but if they're sending you a scope that's worth twice as much, just sell the new scope and buy a good used 45x scope. Put some pretty serious coin in your pocket and have a good scope again. It's not like you can't find another one and I'd be very happy with that deal. I mean, if they don't make it and can't fix it...what more can you ask, honestly? Just my 2 cents is all.

There have always been things about their scopes that were maybe worth complaining about but historically, their warranty has never been one of them.

I've got a very good 40x if you wanna trade your new one for it??

According to their website, Parsons does not work on Leupolds.

From their website:

We do NOT work on Tasco, Simmons, Bushnell or any Japanese-made scope. We do NOT work on Weaver, Leupold or most Redfields.

I just called Leupold for an update on when my warranty replacement scope will be sent?
They said that they don't have any in stock and don't have any idea when they will ship mine out ?

So whats left??? some dime store scopes. Maybe toilet roll scopes? Made in china or Philippines

For me, the most alarming thing would be Leupold 'discontinuing' the manufacture of all target scopes. It sounds like they are totally abandoning that segment of the scope market.

And not maintaining a spare parts inventory and repair capability for scopes produced in the last 10-15 years is borderline criminal.

The type of use these scopes see, and the type of customer that buys a specialty target scope demands that the manufacturer support those products for decades, even if the repair cost is high.

Replacing a specialty target scope with a current product that's functionally not equivalent isn't an acceptable option.

I don’t know how they can keep the lights on. A guy can buy a used scope for less than half of retail, use it for 20 years, then get a brand new scope from them that also has a lifetime warranty. If you accidentally destroy it, no problem. We read of those examples quite frequently.

Meanwhile the number of scopes in existence carrying their own lifetime warranties just keeps increasing. It’s like they are unwittingly victimizing themselves in a circumstantial and accidental Ponzi scheme of their own creation.

Yeah I just checked the site and the 45x was showing again, so I called them and they did confirm not only is it discontinued, there are no plans to bring it back. They thanked me for pointing out the website error, it shouldn't be showing as current.

I think he said over 360 sku's so they are thinning it back some and for whatever reason that was one of them. He also confirmed they have been getting lots of grief for discontinuing the 45x but apparently so far that hasn't changed their mind.

I also found out that while the custom shop is still shut down, it hasn't been announced as gone for good so it "may" be back. Apparently it was its own shop and they needed the room for production. Which is likely why the last time I was over there the parking lot was overflowing with employee vehicles. Seems they are still getting lots of sales, he mentioned even now they can't keep up with demand.

Well they have 39 scopes listed under competition and by far most are new models and variable power, mostly Mark 4HD and 5HD, plus a few others. The 45x apparently was added back to the site on accident. It seems what's happening is their focus is more on PRS and other competition vs traditional.
