FJIM: I figured on trying something new. I am going to have a break put on it so we will see, if not building these things are quite fun. Are you doing an SLR?

ps Alf: ;) nicely done

No not SLR a 243 30 deg imp...Ackley but 30 deg shoulder instead of 40...I got side tracked while i'm still waiting on a barrel to come...I end up with a 7mm WM and 7mm rem mag and then another 7mm rem mag...The money spent on them could have completed the build and a scope but I needed something to do while waiting on the barrel.should have it by next month but I maybe out of funds for the year..cut backs at work and pending lay offs..doom and gloom...lol....

Are semi autos allowed? :)

My 6.5 Grendel is not complete yet but I should have it finished by the summer. Planning to order a barrel from Lilja and the float tube from White Oak Armament.

That Colt is like the Parker I got in the trunk of an old Dodge ...little old lady must have thought someone was going to car-jack her! She was long gone when the car came my way...KA-CHING!

My new for 2015 Varmint rig.............

Savage 12 VLPDBM model with a 26", 1-9 twist CBI .223 Ackley Improved barrel. I installed the precision barrel nut and heavy duty recoil lug when I installed the new CBI barrel. Trigger is set right about 2 lbs. It's topped of with an EGW 0 MOA base, Burris Signature Zee rings holding a Sightron SIII 8-32X56.

I'm pushing 53 grain V-Maxs over 3600 FPS with H4895 and getting 1/2" 5-shot groups so it's going to be my long range varmint slayer. I have yet to develop a load for the 60 V-Maxs but will soon.

This gun will be going with me on my Prairie Dog trip in June alongside my 20 Practical, which is also built on a Savage action.

Potatoe

where are you huntiing where there are actually some chucks these days. PA has gotten crushed by the Fishers and Coyotes

We are in south eastern part by MD line. The only thing that seems to be hurting our ground hog population is us luckily. Very few coyotes, but its hard to find a farm with a lot of pigs, every few years we find another great farm but we thin them out kinda quick because e don't lay off of them and we also start killing them before memorial day so we also don't get as many pups
