Lapua brass

Question on Lapua brass. Who do you contact about bad quality of brass?
Just received 100 pcs. of 338 Lapua brass 80 pcs. have flash hole burrs. It looks like the punch was bent/broken or what ever.
For the price the quality should be better.

Larry,
Looks to be punched. There is a half moon sized piece of the flash hole pushed in. All look the same.
Just don't know how twenty are OK out of a 100. Something must of broke or bent.

I don't know why that is there. I have seen the same thing with 90% of 700pe of 308win Lapua. Even tho Lapua is still the best I can find for shooting FTR.

It is a burr. I have looked at a few pe of my brass with my bore scope and it is a burr. I put a bevel on all my flash holes any way so it cleans right up.

Hi Gary,

On the road right now, but will be back in the office on Tuesday. Drop me a PM and we'll see what's up here. Just for info, the flash holes are punched, not drilled. We actually found we had greater problems with alignment and burrs drilling the holes than we do punching them. That, however, assumes the punch is properly set up and adjusted. Either way, I'll be happy to take a look at these and get it sorted out.

I took the recommendation of a recent (1-2-12) Daily Bulletin and picked up a 1.5mm(0.059055″) bit and a pin vise http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2012/01/flash-hole-first-aid-removing-flash-hole-obstructions/

It made short work of the half-moon burrs on new Lapua 6BR brass without enlarging the flash hole

It doesn't take a whole lot of dull to make a burr with a punch or a drill for that matter & sometimes there can be other factors that will influence it.
