Lapua Brass, Lost 51 pcs Right Off the Bat!

I have 500 lapua 223 cases coming and will give them an extra close looking over when or if I ever get them. ups says they are delayed due to train derailment.

Notice how the normal annealing line extends to below the shoulder at the same place on each case. A logical sign that the mis-colored brass missed one or more of the pickling steps. .............. Just not acceptable for premium brass and not the 1st time this has been reported on Lapua .223 brass.............. JRS's post may be speculation but, I'd say educated speculation.
I have two blue boxed 223's and now I'm almost afraid to open them. BUT I will and I'm sure they will live up to their reputation.

Was there any foam in the boxes?
If there was, the cases are just fine. Its just a reaction with the foam. They aren't over annealed and didn't get hot.
I read that in a link where Lapua did reply that the foam was an issue and that the brass reacted that exact way to the foam. They also assured the customer that the brass is all annealed correctly and is safe to shoot. In some cases it may be best to send it back and get another lot that looks safe to shoot.

Now stevie, answer my question. How do you know that? My cats meow enough for me, I don't need another. You, me, or nobody else knows if anything is wrong with this brass. Need to wait until Lapua passes judgement and not the peanut gallery.
I'll be quiet

Looks like they sat out in the light for awhile. I've had cases sit on the bench in a cheap plastic container that get that look over time. I wouldn't be afraid to shoot them. They don't look like any cases I've ever over annealed.

Thanks for the foam info! Maybe that explains why my last box of 6.5X47L cases did NOT have the foam in it??? Seems like they would get beaten up pretty good in shipment though.

Not casting aspersions on L. 223 brass, but just fire formed a number of cases and resized them in custom FL bushing dies, dies set up as per the die maker, and the shoulder setbacks are all over the place..never had this with other Lapua caliber brass...the only variable in the process was the different cases. I am at a loss

Wait for someone to come along and say that you weren't applying the lube consistently, hence your differences in measurement..

I've had trouble with a batch of Lapua 223 brass also, and Thomas wouldn't help me out.

Lake City is my go to 223 brass. Never had a problem with it, and it is WAY more consistent than Lapua 223. And I've weighed and measured thousands of NEW Lapua and Lake City 223 cases.

Last time Kevin has been on here was back on Oct 18th of last year.. maybe he has gotten tired of hearing the complaints. The other Lapua guy "abraverman" will direct you to contact Kevin and give a number to call him at.. i have not called him yet..
