Lapua 300 WSM Brass

I would really like to see Lapua start making 300 WSM brass. I have contacted them and let them know. If anyone else feels the same it would be good to let Lapua know. It's getting very ridiculous at the prices on Norma 300 WSM brass. I hope I'm not alone on this.

Norma brass is expensive but so is Lapua. The best group fired with 10 shots in competition @ 1000 yards 2.815" was shot with Norma brass 300 wsm.

I would definitely be in for some. It looks like it is the best case (accuracy) in 30 Cal. for 1000 yard benchrest! I have been wanting to try one at 600 yard competition with 168-187g bullets in my HG. If Lapua would start making brass, I would go with the build. I believe the 300WSM should be on Lapua's #1 "To do list"!!! They could sell a load of it!!

Dan,
was that heavy gun? do you have a site, who shot it, thanks for any info.
Wayne.

Here is a pic of the target, Wayne. Matt Kline shot it at Williamsport. I believe that Mark king built the gun.

Bozo--Yes Matt Kline shot it in Heavy Gun and you can also find it on the Berger Bullet Site and he used Norma Brass. Also check out the Heavy (mostly) Gun results in the regular shoots (sometimes the caliber, etc is not current or correct) @ the Pa 1000 Yard site, these groups are something else on a regular basis. I'm not saying Lapua (which I like) couldn't make better brass than Norma in this caliber (300 wsm) but the Norma brass sure must be damn good. The proof is definitely there. Remember RWS makes damn good brass that is still available here from Huntingdon's but not in all calibers. It can be done in Light Gun too but it's just a little harder with the additional recoil, etc. What I don't understand is people saying that Lapua has to make the brass for them to build a rifle in a certain caliber when world class brass is already there.

Bozo--It's on this site also search on daily bulletin. I don't see RWS brasss available for 300 wsm on Huntingdon's site, but Norma brass is all you need. Heck Winchester brass might do it if you want to do twice the work for 1/2 the price, but it can be a little rough, however Andy Murtaugh broke the then current record a couple years ago @ Reade Range for Light Gun score with Winchester brass (6.5/284), but Frank Weber broke it and just a month ago Frank's son Scott broke that but they used the 6mm Dasher (Lapua Brass). You can also do a search for Andy's record I believe on here and the Pa 1000 Yard site.

For most of us getting lapua brass is many times easier than either RWS or Norma. I just last week got my first batch of norma 300winmag brass after trying for a year and a half to catch it in stock. And RWS in the calibers I shoot is like pulling teeth with the way people scalp the prices for brass from them. I have seen a man asking 3.50 per a piece of RWS brass on this very forum. If I wanted that I would just build a 338 Lapua and buy easily available brass. Lapua has a habit of keeping up with demand from many different reloading supply stores that are much easier to order from. Kudos to Lapua's marketing.

Minesweeper--I sure understand your situation and maybe others are in the same boat, I was addressing the quality of the Norma 300 wsm brass. Sometimes I find myself in the same situation or very near the same as you, but I was addressing quality of the Norma 300 wsm brass, which I thought some people were questioning.

No joke I was considering buying your rifle for the parts and components. It was that or my custom suppressor for magnum rifles and well they finished it today and are shipping it out to my dealer this week so the rifle was out of the budget for this week. Good news is I no longer have to shoot my magnums and take Tylenol to get rid of the headache. I had some sinus cavity damage from getting sick real bad a few years back so shooting guns with a big concussion causes me serious discomfort. Been buying cans since.

To DanConzo I was addressing why some of us might prefer lapua over norma or RWS. I know that the quality is so close it is many times hard to tell which is the better of the three save for batch differences. But for me it is the ability to get the lapua brass much easier and more consistently that keeps me from building rifles that i can't get lapua brass for.
