Labradar news again....

Ok, for about a year I've wondered how accurate is the Labradar? So this morning I took it to our local range and with another guys Caldwell chrony, and an additional Shooting Chrony we started comparing results. Lab Radar unit was within 4-7 fps of either other chrony. BUT I noticed that everytime a guys 6.5CM fired, the lab radar moved about an inch right and needed to be re aimed. Need to find a way to bag it down. I have one of those aftermarket folding aluminum feet stands which are stable, but not very heavy. But the Radar works just fine.

If that 6.5 Creedmoor had a muzzle brake on it that would explain what happened especially if the other rifles were regular muzzles. The labradar has to be set up differently if so than a plain basic muzzle. There are actual instructions to get around muzzle blast with brakes in the owners manual as well as the quick setup guide.

So Labradar doesn’t do so well with a brake? My old Oehler 35 doesn’t mind....

it is basically with a brake the muzzle has to be either out front or behind, and to the side of course, depending on the design of the brake and where the muzzle blast is directed. It is not supposed to take a direct blast from the brake vents. That will of course buffet the unit with undesirable effects. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to place you phone 6" to the side of your brake in a direct path of those vented gases pressures either. I'm pretty sure the results could be undesirable too. :)

Oh I realize that, I was just pointing out that “labradar” is not the “fix all” just like the “magnetospeed” isn’t either. It all depends on what you want to do and what you’re after. Hard to be an Oehler, imho.

Could explain the 12,245 fps reading we got on the one shot.

Labradar's quick setup guide....

Note "Muzzle position" . this is most likely what caused the undesirable effects of the unit moving around
Thank you, took a pic on my phone now I can bring this up when I am away from unit for months at a time for a refresher. Seems like the only thing shorter than my memory is my patience.Especially with a lot of modern Chinese gadgets....lol
