Labradar issue

Was helping a friend out this weekend getting velocities for a load he was developing. Using JKL trigger the Labradar was picking up all the shots . All of a sudden it wouldn’t register any shots. Had another friend shooting three lanes over that was using his Labradar . His unit stopped collecting velocities at the same time I was having problems. The conditions hadn’t changed. At every shot both units blinked like they normally do but then showed an error and couldn’t register velocity. This went on for about a half hour when they both started working normal at the same exact time. I know our range is parallel with a highway less then a quarter mile away. Was thinking maybe State police was shooting radar and it messed with the Labradar.
Who knows. Anyone else have something similar happen.

My unit quit working. Sometimes it would turn on other times not. When armed (orange light on) it would not pick up the shot. So I called Labrador and explained the problem. Turns out the cord from the external battery to the unit was fubar. Don’t know why it just was. They explained to me their are two types of cords. One for charging, like for your phone or iPad, one for running them. Bought a new cord ($5.00) and life is good again.

Really bright sunlight [either toward or away from sun..i can't remember now] was messing with mine as well as severe mirage.

They are sensitive to outside interference.

I had a problem with mine a year or two ago; it was a hardware issue, sometime to do with calibrating the radar during the boot sequence.

That said, I use the JKL trigger, and it would do exactly as you're describing. You'd shoot, and it wouldn't pick up the shot (which is rare with the JKL trigger). When I called LR technical support, they asked several questions about where I was shooting, and it's proximity to any airports or military installations. I don't know what kind of interference it is specifically, but it was obvious LR had seen issues with something causing issues.

Mine was 100% a hardware failure though...just thought I'd mention the part about outside interference.

When you talked to LabRadar tech did they balk at you using an external trigger?

I'm not a LR user but I was told by someone that is LR doesn't recommend the use of external triggers with their units. Curious if they told you the same thing or did you not mention to them you were using an external trigger?

After a few range trips of it not picking up shots, it finally tossed an error on the screen when I booted it up. It's been a while since the call, but I don't remember any mention of the JLK trigger.

I mailed it back to them, and a week or so later they'd repaired it. ~20-30k shots across it since with zero issue.

I recently had a similar problem. When my friend started using his Labradar near me all of a sudden mine stopped picking up shots. I also use an external trigger but that had nothing to do with it.
Labradars can interfere with one another.
In the setup preferences menu if you scroll down you will find a setting called TX CHANNEL.
There are 12 different settings from 24.080 GHz to 24.160 GHz. Check to make sure the two units aren't running the same channel. If they are the same change one to a different frequency, preferably one not even close. I'm not an expert on radar and why they interfere with one another but this should solve the problem, it did for me.

Thanks I’ll look into this next time more than one Labradar is set up on the line.
