Lab Radar Chronograph

Hi there,
I am new to this forum and just joined up.
This is my first post and I apologise if this related post has been up on the forum before.

Does anyone own or use a Lab Radar Chronograph and what are your comments please
I currently use the the Magneto Speed models Mk 1 & 2

Get on the list. My unit is awesome and well worth the $$$. Works great. Picks up every shot. No load work now without having Chrony results. It is great

There have been several threads within the last week on the pros and cons of various chronographs, including the LabRadar.

I sent an e-mail to lab radar, they said that it was rated to 3900 fps. and could`t guarantee that it would read any faster.......

Joe,

According to what i read on Lab Radar`s web site, it dies not pick up others rounds down range.........

Not sure how that works, but someone else was concerned about it as well, pretty important if you ask me.

I've shot at range with others shooting and mine worked flawlessly. Only read my shots

I'm happy with mine. There is a little "Learning Curve" regarding setup. You have be carefull to "aim" the unit at the target to get all of the shots. I use a cell phone headset charger at the range to power my LabRadar. I don't have any battery issues that way. I also use an SD card and the device puts lots of good data on the card in format that can be opened with Excel.

You can use it to shoot any distance. It does not give velocity past a certain distance(150 yards I believe). So yardage you shoot it at doesn't matter

Has anyone used it at 1000 yards to see what it does?

My understanding is that it has a sonic 'trigger' that's activated by report from user's hardware. Used down-range, say below pit wall @ 1,000 yards, shot shockwave may not activate device.

Smallbore, sub-sonic pistol, air rifle & supressor users can get another type of trigger (not sure how this works, it's extra $$ option) for use with their device.

No, I don't have a LabRadar. Waiting to see how user feedback affects how many get sold & used over the next few months. After significant delays in arrival and continuing availability issues I've got better places for my 'disposable income' (an oxymoron if ever there was one) for the time being.

LabRadar accuracy will not be affected by other shots being fired into your radar beam. Part of the technology built into the system allows it to determine if the shot came from very near the radar unit or if it came in from another location. Since the radar tracking is only active for a fraction of a second it is nearly impossible for you to receive a velocity from another shooter nearby. Your unit also has an adjustment in it to "turn off" most gunshots that are nearby, yet allow your shot to operate the unit. In rare cases your unit may trigger on another shooters muzzle blast. If this occurs you can easily delete that shot from your data"

How rare are the cases has yet to be determined. Can you use it at a public range without deleting every 4th, 9th, 10th shot ?

Labradar is designed to set besides the shooter as it is triggered by the weapon muzzle blast. Currently it is not possible to trigger the radar at a downrange location.

If anyone is located around York PA I would be more than happy to let you demo mine. I received mine 3 months ago and have been using it on both rifle and pistol range and have put at least 1000 rounds past it. It is super convenient to set up. On the rifle range I screw it to the little flat stand and set the unit on the bench and for the most part you are now ready to go. I think the farthest I have tracked a round was a around 165 yards. I had some trouble with the system on at 20 Yards shooting steel plates. When you hit the steel plate the plate then rings the software had a hard time dealing with it and would lock up. Other than shooting close range plates I have had no issues.
