New Garmin Xero C1 Radar Chronograph

Heres one i made Sprarie
Nicely done, Id like to keep it on the drivers side being a right handed shooter. I don’t have a lot room so I may have to get creative.

The old style LabRadar is easier to repair than the new highly integrated units.
Power connector, SD card connector, microphones, inertia triggers, battery packs, epoxy broken parts, red dots for alignment.
Try that with the Garmin :)
None of these accessories are needed on the Garmin so repairing the cable connection ports for these accessories will not be an issue.

this one can flip to either side. 1st trial on the right. Will flip it to other side for tomorrow to see how i like that. Hope ur doing well up there

Geez hoz53, an Oehler33, had from the early 80's and sold it a few years ago to a fellow from upstate N.Y. and he's still using it to this day. A Pita to set up but they worked very well. I've had my new Garmin for almost a month and still haven't used it yet. Going out Thursday to give it a test drive, hope it works as well as all of the great reviews it's been getting.

I'm about to build some type of ammo caddy like that, do you find the flexible arm to be stable enough? I like the look and simplicity of it, but can't help but wonder if it is rigid enough - when compared to a 'stiff-arm' type?

This one is very rigid, I got off of a sure feed ammo caddie iirc. The case feeder itself was made by a member.

Received my C1 an hour ago USPS. Finished the software update, battery charging, tinkered around with it, cute little fella. Already have the bench mount done. The only thing I don't care for is the wait til this coming Wednesday to use it!

What is the software update about and how does that get installed ?

You can install it after connecting to your phone, or update connected to a PC. I plugged it into the PC. I did not see a list of update other than saying improved stability. If you connect your dumb phone via bluetooth with the Garmin app, Create an account and/or login it will notify you of an update if needed, mine did. I elected to disconnect and use the desktop app called Garmin Express. It walks you through a few steps and then takes it's time downloading the update. When it done it will have you disconnect the C1 and the C1 will take a minute or two and install the update...all done and ready to go.

If you have the Garmin app on you phone or notepad, open it and power up the Garmin. It will do it automatically. You can also plug the Garmin into your PC and go to the Garmin web site and follow the easy directions.

Have a Garmin chrono on order, but I can't seem to be able to find out if I can power the thing with an external "auxiliary" battery like I can with my old (for sale) Labradar. Anyone know if I can do that if I need power for longer than the (seems to be) usually plenty 6 hours? Maybe the people at Garmin can answer that question or maybe when my unit arrives today (hopefully) the accompanying paperwork will answer that question.

Edit/added info: Well, I just am to impatient, I guess! Just now called Garmin and asked them about this and they tell me that I CAN hook up an external battery to the unit with a USB connection. Apparently that will recharge the internal battery, but will also allow the unit to be operated at the same time it is charging. I don't think, as of right now anyway, that I'll ever manage to run the thing out of internal power, but I kinda like to know what'll the deal be should I actually do that sometime! As I was always taught in past "positions"---ALWAYS have a plan "B" as plan "A" will often run off of the rails if it even turns out to be workable at the beginning of the mission!

Finally used the C1 today. The little gizmo does a good job of capturing the data, I like it. Getting the data from the unit quite another annoying process! I put Excel away 10 years ago and did my best to forget all the functions, worksheet layouts, hoping I would never have to use it again, but then AB and C1 came along. So be it, I'll spend some time to make something of it so I can combine AB, C1, and OnTarget data useful.

The transfer of data from the C1 to Excel is frustrating. I cannot imagine how much laughter the programmer is having over their design. I give the session some kind of meaningful name other than a number. I send it to my email putting the corresponding name in the message. I get to do this one session at a time, no batch option, that makes for fun. It appears as some kind of random number sequence.csv file attachment. I save that off into a folder changing the name of the file to the corresponding name I put in the message area of the email. All of this to save a few lines of code and save a few bits of storage.

Anyone know and like to share of an Android app that works with the C1 to save the CSV file to the phones external storage card, rather than the cloud or email?

Not sure I understand your last question. (edit: doesn't appear so, I looked through mine and couldn't find any files, then went through export again and no local save methods available. Agree, that's annoying)

Android: sync your unit to the phone app, then in the phone app you click on the session, click three dots upper-right and export as CSV or rename session then export. At that point you get a menu to choose where you want it to go, e-mail, Google Drive, whatever... I use Drive as I can then access those files from my pc or anything that can access Drive.

What I don't like is: (these may have been fixed in the newer software/firmware (IOS), no idea when Android will get the same update).
1. that I have to edit session name and info in the app if I want the excel to contain that info and not have to depend on only the timestamps.
2. that the excel provides you the data and ES, SD, and such, but not the calculations for those so if in excel you for example delete a row, it won't simply recalculate those. You needed to exclude or delete those in the app before exporting (garbage in / garbage out). Sure I could find the excel code to put those calc in, but the coder could have simply included that in the exported file.

The app is ok as is, but it could be so much better with just a few changes.

The Spreadsheet Mafia have been complaining at the Hide too. Hopefully they get it fixed for you guys and a guy there said the more people that complain to Garmin the faster things get fixed so maybe write them and tell them your issues.

I'm on the latest Android version (1.0.3) of ShotView and it has the same problems as iOS. I did find a an app to get the CSV file on my external phone storage by going through Threema. But the renaming the file at every step is way annoying. My choice is to put up with it for now and hope they will soon make some improvements. In the mean time I can work on the spreadsheet as distasteful as it is for me.

Yes, I'm pretty good at squeaking my wheel.

I noticed today ShotView updated to v1.1 build 25 on Android. Minimally it adds cloud storage option.

update 3/15: and today they updated their Terms of Use. I didn't find anything about the cloud storage but if that falls under their "USER SUBMISSIONS" section then folks might want to read that before using the cloud storage, or at least keep in mind as they notate their sessions.

Hello, please can someone explain me how I can load the .csv file from Xero to Chronoplotter without a manual entry.

Thanks

Talking with Garmin tech support revealed that .csv files exported from the Xero as single shot groups import into Excel without manual entries. But... ...files exported from the Xero as multiple shot groups DO NOT. They export as .XLS files with multiple worksheets and requiring manual conversion of text strings to numbers.

Here is my post in another thread on this site. Within that post is an embedded link to my first post on this.
