Kelbys bolt extraction

I’m having an issue with my rifle. It will not extract a round / case. Loaded round. But once it’s fired it will bring the case back. Running about 2K shoulder bump. Good neck clearance, bullet not jammed.
When I first got my rifle it was not chambered properly and rounds had to be extracted by pounding back the bolt handle with palm. Would an Extraction kit resolve this issue?

Sounds like a wrong extractor claw for your rims. Like they don't extend high enough from the bolt face to clip over the rims. On firing, the case is driven backward hard/far enough for the claw to snap over rims.

With one of my BATs, extra extractor claws came with the action. Each a different height, and intended to be fitted. It needs to be high enough to snap over rims, but not so far as to allow rims to be released along the way (when pulling the bolt back), leaving the round un-ejected.
That BAT action has controlled round feeding, with standing blade ejection. The extractor claw has to be just right for this.

If you push the shoulder back to much the shoulder body junction diameter may get bigger in diameter or a change in shoulder shape?

Years ago a friend got a new rifle built around a BAT 3 lug action. I volunteered to break in the barrel and work up a load. He was my boss at the time, and I was the guy who got him interested in benchrest. When I put a piece of my brass in his rifle (both .262 neck 6PPCs, the extractor did not pick up the case when the bolt was reopened. Upon examination the space between the inside of the extractor hook and the bolt's face was a very close fit on the case's rim. My case was probably three thousandths shorter shoulder to head, and so the extractor did not snap over the rim. You might take a look at your action to see if it is similar, and measure the difference in the shoulder to head dimensions of the cases that do not extract and those that have been fired and properly bumped. It may be that simply relieving the inside of your extractor will fix the problem, but as others have said, call Kelbly's first, they have great customer service.

I have 3 questions just out of curiosity. What round are you shooting? Is the bolt a 308 boltface? And lastly is the rifle properly chambered now?

Definitely call Kelbley's! JME. WD
