I have to thank Jim at Apache Gunworks for the great job he did on my .300wsm Shilen SS Select Match barrel done Remage style.

You can barely see the nut. Nice job and keep us in the loop as you shoot it in the future.

I'm a big fan of muzzle brakes. I normally go with the JP Recoil Eliminator, but decided to try his standard compensator this time around. I wanted a brake that was going to match the muzzle diameter instead of the tank type on this rifle.

I can't wait to hit the range later this week. I'm hoping the Berger 190's shoot well. It's probably the heaviest bullet I can go with that will fit in the mag and not be seated past the shoulder. Normally I try several bullets and a few different powders when working up a load. I'll try a couple different powders with the 190's and if I don't get <1/2 MOA I'll then try a few different bullets.

Very nice build. The nut looks to be an integral part of the rifle. One of the cleanest I have seen to date. Well done. Looking forward to a range report. 8)

Very nice set up please keep us informed with a range report. I have been wanting to try this Remage set up for a while now I'm starting to feel inspired.

ione of the most EFFECTIVE muzzle breaks i have ever seen and used is the little bastard. it REALLLLY TAMES FELT RECOIL. makes my 300 wsm tact build recoil like a 308.
i am using a harrells on my heavy gun. it blends perfectly with the 1.50 in muzzle diameter. enjoy you new rig as i know you will. i have some 175 and 185 berger vld if you need a box to try. pm me if you need to.

I considered a Fat Bastard. I've always wanted to see a comparison between the Fat Bastard and the JP Recoil Eliminator. As long as they both have the same size exit hole, very important, my money would be on the JP. I could be wrong, but like I said I'd love to see a nice comparison done like I've seen with many of the other brakes out there.

By the way, my .338 Edge with the JP Recoil Eliminator shooting 300gr Bergers and 91gr of H1000 has less felt recoil than my brothers .308 and my 20lb benchrest .284 win. If you've never tried a Recoil Eliminator you should. Not only are they probably the most effective muzzle brake out there, they are reasonable priced and come in numerous sizes(diameters). They are offered in SS and Blackened with several different exits holes as well and they will customize the exit hole for you before shipping at no charge if my memory is correct.

Honestly, I don't work for JP Industries, but their products have sure worked for me over the years.

Shilen SS Select Match .300wsm Remage Barrel

Barrel blank was purchased from MidwayUSA and then chambered and threaded by Jim at Apache Gun Works.

Thanks, I used a Criterion on mine and have been happy with it but have also been looking into other options for the next barrel.

Very nice looking rig. I'm thinking about a Remage over Savage for my next build for extra stock options. Did your stock require any extra inletting to fit the barrel nut?

EDIT: Sorry for the digging up of an old thread.
