It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

My oldest son tagged his first racked buck yesterday morning. Only his second buck. His first was a 3ptr. He was using a Tikka 6.5 creedmoor, 129 long range accubond that I have loaded light with H4895. It’s only pushing 2400fps or so. Absolutely devastated everything he has shot so far this year. This one field dressed 153#. Shot it behind the onside shoulder at 120yards, exited far shoulder. It only made it 10-20yard. I still haven’t recovered a bullet yet.

It was a Widgeon fest today....17 Widgeon and 4 Mallards (3 limits)
We were done in 2 1/2 hours.
Took a little longer today as my boys had to spend some time breaking up ice (1"+ thick in some spots)
They broke up the bigger pieces and pushed them under the other chunks.
It opened up a nice little "pocket" of open water.....
We only placed 20 or so decoys today instead of our usual 75 to 100+.
The birds weren't landing however they would cup in to "check it out".
Many of them "checked it out" but never left.... Decoys 11_30.jpg Ducks 11_30.jpg

Why would anyone post that??? Thought about eating it, but the last one tasted like an F150 bumper , so it went to my "bait area". Wiley and his friend were having it for breakfast; interrupted them with a 25-06!

20191202_094708.jpg 20191202_085724.jpg 20191202_094708.jpg I managed to fill my tags Last day of the season. I had an either sex tag as well as a doe tag. The buck and doe came into the stand at 9:00 am. I managed to take the buck, the doe stood perfectly still and I somehow had time to reload my muzzle loader. When I glanced up she was still there so I made the shot. The rest is history. Made for alot of work as I was by myself and only had a sled to pull each deer back a 1/2 mile each to my truck. A great experience and a day I'll remember for a long time.View attachment 1142820 View attachment 1142821 View attachment 1142820 View attachment 1142821

I guess I ruined my chance at a buck coming out of the woods this evening. The wife has been after me to take out some foxes. They’re getting interested in our chickens with the cold weather coming. They already got one from us earlier in the year. Not much of a challenge for my old West German made 240 Weatherby.
