It's getting tough to support the local gunstore

Pity the poor LGS that did stockpile a bit and just when the owner thinks he ship has come in, he can’t dare charge market rates lest a bunch of grumbling entitled shooters blame him for “gouging“ as if someone is forcing them to buy .

same guys to start screaming how much they hate communism and AOC

The only thing that surprises me is how many are surprised by lack of components and higher prices. This happens all the time. Election, mass shooting, now virus, even talk of a gun control bill. Seems like a lot of us have short memories. I hope everyone remembers Trump's first 3 years.

There have been shortages before and not long ago. I learned my lesson...going forward, I might get caught without something, but I darn sure won't get caught without anything!

I will continue to support my local gun stores. They still have things I want and need. Prices may fluctuate but I am ok with that as long as I can still buy

Most have for at least 4 years now.
I run in to him every now and then at the range and his complaint hasn't changed.
He asked me where I was buying now and I told him I took his advice and buy online now and save on gas plus save on components.

I'd love to see the look on his face when you remind him of his advice and the fact that you are still following it.

Same here in the Midwest. I work at the gun counter of a large retailer.

Over the past 4 weeks I have told people that are buying their first gun that find the ammo first and then buy a gun that uses that ammo.

50% of them will leave the store with a can of bear spray because they want instant protection and a gun without bullets is not going to help them.

Got 9k, 9mm of ammo on the last truck, was sold out in 18 hours and that was with a 2 box limit per day.

Now I missed the boat on my reloading supplies. I am getting down to 13K of CCI #41 primers and like every place no one has them.

Same with my 6.5 mm bullets. Don't know if I will have enough to finish the year shoot 600 and 1000.

Anyone selling any???

A guy posted on you tube you can buy directly from federal which includes only ammunition so have at it and prices are not much different than a gun store. I found a place recently that had some primers so I ordered pistol primers 10,000 of them for a project for a local gun company and 5000 came in but he wont just sell to anyone in that quantity unless you are local. I got small rifle match(federal) last 2 bricks and ha had a bunch of small rifle etc. I found him all by accident. So look around and see if your local guy can put them on back order. Supposedly the primer companys use 99% of all primers for ammo sales so that puts us in a bad position.

How can we forget....look at the damage !

The component shortage is very much like the political climate people cannot remember the last time you couldn't buy primers just like they don't remember when you could not find a job when Obama was in office.

AMEN to that!!! Truly a shame you can only like a post once!

Holy snikeys at the poor me crap. Try being a small dealer try to help your folks , make a living, feed the family. Right now you need to shoot less paper, use less components and conserve what you have. This latest shortage happened in a wink of an eye. The 2200$ Glock really bothers me, I know it's capitalism, don't give me any sh$t about that. I call that greed. And the dude above blaming the prez? Really. Go knit a toboggan
or something.
edit - support us as long as you can because between the Covid BS and now this you may not have an LGS when the smoke clears.

i stopped in a lgs and a pawn-n-gun shop yesterday. the pawn had some imr4320 on the shelf at 28.50, the lgs had imr4350 for 31.50. but that is a side story.

the lgs said they were working with 6 different distributors right now to try and stay stocked. they had fed 210 lrp on the shelf with 3 different price tags, ranging from 32 to 56. that reflected recent price changes to them they said, but to their credit rather than switch stickers they were 'sticking' with their original prices until the old stock was sold.

they also had 9 1/2's and others priced the same way.

the top shelf was reserved for spp, had a yellow sticky stating 'spp' and was bare. they said that was meant to be humorous. if i owned any pistols i might not have smiled.

Some are talking about rationing their shooting. Well folks, I would rather kick that forbidden bucket with no shooting supplies rather than going with a whole room full left behind!

Heck Alex 75% of people I come in contact with every day look like they can’t remember to comb their hair in the morning let alone remember the last shortages we had!
