Is this REALLY the new norm!?

I know reloading components have been hard to find, especially if you are looking for specific powders and primers. I'm not a hoarder but do have enough to keep shooting as I don't shoot as often now as I use to. I must say though that I do buy when the opportunity presents itself, especially when unicorn items are staring me in the face :). Well, I had an opportunity today and my jaw just dropped! I knew prices were high but come on!!! I was at Sportsman's Warehouse earlier and they actually had some good powders in stock. Needless to say, even with the outrageous price, I did pick up a pound of H4350 and two sleeves of CCI 41 at $8/ sleeve, which is the max they will let you buy per day.

I hate those three words. Tommy Mc

I'm glad the prices have reach a place where hoarders are pausing/slowing enough to give everyone else a shot. They had to rise or people would be sitting on 50# of it, because they had the time and posting tips, while those of us who are busier were hoping for a few 1# jugs.

Get use to it. It will get worse it does every year.

I agree. I still remember last year the few times I was able to check the lgs before heading to work, there was already like 20 people in line before the door opened. I just slowly roll by and drive off.

I hope not. I bought 48 pounds over Thanksgiving and paid the most for it that I've ever paid for that quantity.

Thinking back, I remember paying around $75.00 for 8 pounds of AA 2230 C.
Think I went thru something like 8 to 10 jugs. M1As like LOTS of ammo. :D
When I couldn't get it anymore (AA quit making it) I went to AA 2230.
I also use it in all of my other rigs. Shooting bug holes are the norm.
Think I have enough power and primers (CCI BRs) to last the rest of my life, and beyond. Close to $100.00 for a one pound of anything? Not happening!! :(
And the sellers get away with it if you buy it at that price.:oops:

I hate to be the disseminator of negativity, but the reality is that at a 6 to 7% rate of inflation, it won't be long before prices start to double on everything (not just hobbies) unless the government gets its spending under control for which I see no signs that it has any desire to do so. I think we are headed into an economic abyss.

7% rate of inflation, takes 10 years for prices to double.

Not if it compounds which is what happens when a hyper-inflation cycle starts. Read the history of the Germany Mark after WWI. How long can the US dollar sustain runaway spending with multi-trillions of dollars of debt. It's unsustainable. At some point there has to be a reconciliation.
