Hoarders? Really?

Urbqn Rifleman,

Don't be such a twit!

I am headed to Raton, NM, after Church tomorrow morning for a rifle match. I am not planning on fitting a 1000 gallon tank to my truck to make sure I get there.
You are comparing apples to oranges with the hoarding thread. I have heard from members (hoarders) here that have fifty-thousand or more primers stashed.

My last purchase of primers have the price stickers on the boxes. $9.30 per thousand on the small, $9.70 on large. I am not planning on taking sealed bids here or elsewhere if I sell any. I switched to precision, high velocity air rifles earlier this year. They do not need primers, or powder or expensive brass, just $23 per container of 200.

But, how about if we really enjoy center fire and reloading?

Kracken,

I was over at the RAM dealers this morning getting the oil changed on my Diesel Truck, and learned that they will discontinue the EcoDiesel model. They aren't going to try and take mine away, they just aren't going to make any more new ones.
Same way with powder burning rifles (unless the Dems steal the 2024 Presidential Election like they did the last one). I don't think they will even try, they can just make the price and availability unreachable like the current situation with primers.

BTW, I saw an ad on Cast Bullets forum for a kit to reload primers...

Air guns are getting interesting! I just noticed bullet casting and swaging gear to make air rifle slugs. What really seems interesting are the number of air slugs available in slightly different diameters - makes me wonder why this isn’t more common with match ammo both center fire and rim fire.

I wouldn’t mind having a air gun to shoot a rodent and I respect you guys that want to compete with them, it just doesn’t appeal to me at all.
I love to build guns and make stocks. I love to do load work ups and get them shooting tiny groups. I record the data, smile, then start working on the next project. Sometimes I load for an old gun to get it shooting to the best of it’s ability. I like the challenge of making something better. It’s my little corner of the shooting world. I can’t see that with air guns. There has to be a “boom” in it.

Not trying to disagree, but the lack of boom while keeping all of the other things you mentioned is why I like airguns.

There are a few less dials to click, but with any airgun there are tuning and optimizations that can be done and they do matter.

Anyway good luck on your next project.

Two fellas standing in line for the last two 8 pound jugs of Varget, both share the need yet when the first guys turn comes he buys both jugs and says have a nice day to the next guy in line.

One guys happy the other guy ..not so much and calls him a prick as he’s walking out the door.

I don't know how many times I've heard ( you snooze, you lose) or (sorry about your luck)... think about it.
I've never bought anything with leaving nothing on the self for the other guy. But the quantity I buy and how long I have it or use it, is my BUSSINESS, and not yours!
You know what they say about opinions, and I really don't care about those, especially the ones that believe they are right no matter what.

So, the most accurate and best air guns were German manufactured…why.guess why…nothing else available and the rest were prohibited to own….for goodness sakes…look at history.

areaone,

There was not sufficient interest on consumers part prior to the advent of the PCP rifles, imho, like there is today.
The most accurate air rifles today, again, imho, are the FX brand. Specifically, the Panthera line. Go to RMAC 2023 on the internet and see. I was there, and I do not remember a cartridge rifle match where there was in excess of $100,000 in prize money awarded. $20,000 to the Challenge Match winner. Gerhard Slabbert won it with an FX Panthera 700 in 22 caliber he tuned. A $2,000 rifle with a $2,800 FX brand Element 6-36X variable scope.
He has dozens of videos hitting pigeons (with the first shot) at 200 yards or longer.
You could replicate his set up for less than $5,000 including the scope. A 200 round container of the H&N slugs cost me about fourteen dollars from Utah Airguns in Orem, Utah. That's seven cents a round, and air tank refills are free since I bought my Panthera there. There is an indoor range about eight minutes from my driveway to the parking lot. I can shoot five days a week. $200 annual range fee. The number of outdoor rifle/handgun ranges is shrinking every month.

I am shooting the same rifle set up, but with a super deal I got here on a used March 8-80X scope. $3K with rings. One last comment; did I mention air rifles have zero recoil? Yeah!
