Ingenuity Precision powder trickler

Gotta love the patent process. It never stops a company from claiming they invented something that has been around for at least 10 years prior to their application. I've still got a PACT dispenser/scale combo that I haven't used in 10 years, so I know it was around long prior to these. Lawyer makes money on both ends. Patent in hand, immediately send out cease & desist letters.

Don't see a date on this article but the PACT unit was also sold as an RCBS version before the Chargemaster came out. I actually called PACT and asked if they were going to be selling the new powder combo and they said there wasn't a new one. Had to tell them I just saw a demo of one.

That and the fact that the lifespan of some products has peaked or is completely over before you can even get the patent issued.
Smart business people have told that, for consumer goods, one has about six months to make enough money to pay lawyers to stop infringing products.

This is a broken system, it discourages innovation.

BIngo! I learned this firsthand. I went to work for an aerospace company and my manager was a . . . OK, sleazeball. He managed to patent a design I had created at a different company several years prior. Claimed it was a "novel" design without prior art. "Novel" is a buzzword for patents and technical conference papers. Patents and papers look good on the resume.

The patent office and many patent lawyers form a racket. It's about who you know, what you can pay and what can be concealed that gets you patents. Later in my career we patented all sorts of things. The company could afford it. As you say, it mostly provides an avenue to write Cease and Desist letters to small-time copycats. It doesn't stop well-funded or foreign copycats. And we "know" all about some of the most blatant foreign copycats. It's a racket, I say. . . . It's a racket!

I saw the T3 web site, have some questions, sent email through their web site 2 weeks ago & haven't heard from them. Makes me worry about after sale service.
While I have not dealt with this particular company I will say the most likely reason you have not heard from them is it is show season and SHOT is open now too. Most everyone in the industry, no matter how large or how small, is there and have been working on getting there for at least a month.

It may be Shot season, but if you run a business, you have cover when the sales staff is out.
Also, too late for Paul. 4 broken promises is 3 too many, plus I found I can load just as accurately and just as fast with a V3 & an IP trickler.
