Imperial sizing wax? good or not?

Ive noticed on this forum and others as well there are reports and opinions on Imperial sizing wax that range from-"better than sliced bread"--to---wouldnt use it on a barn door. My question is whether there are "batches" of the lube that are better than others --or what? Ive only purchased one tin of the stuff several years ago and Id class it as something Id use if theres nothing else around. Others use it to lube case necks for neck turning. I couldnt do that even on a carbide mandrel. Are there that radical batch differences?

What I'd like to know is what is the best stuff to use to remove it from my cases, especially inside the neck. I've tried Acetone, Tolulene, and Acetone+ Tolulene and there always seems to be some left inside the necks (powder sticks inside). Any advice? dedogs

I guess I should add some detail. On full length sizing one of the WSM line of cases seems to have the greatest resistance to sizing. Of all the lubes I have RCBS water base and STP take the least amount of effort to size add extract a case. This takes about 20-30# effort.Lanolin is next easy, followed by Lee's wax and Mink Oil. These require about 25-35# force. I have on a few occasions tried Imperial and had to stop before the case fully entered the die. When they did size the effort to extract the case was excessive, perhaps 50-60# lift force. Does or has anyone else seen this difficulty.?

Brake Parts/ Carb & Choke cleaner on a Q Tip will take care of the lube inside the neck. Spray some on a rag to do the outsides of the case.
Tumbler with corn cobb works but there's always the chance of some lube left inside the necks. All of my brass gets tumbled after resizing.
A little special attention to the insides of the neck, just to be sure. No powder sticking when I seat my bullets. And, IMHO, Imperial Sizing Wax in THE BEST! Spray lube is bad Ju ju! Tried them all but always go back to Imperial. Don't mess with a good thing. 8)

It's the only case lube I've used for the last 15+ years. I just wipe it off with a paper towel when I'm done.

Use the wax on the body, graphite on the neck. Put the graphite on first.
Wipe off with a paper towel or soft cloth.
I have used a lot of it without quality control issues.

With Imperial, I find that less is more. The better your sizing die is, the better the lube will work for you. For neck turning I use TapMatic tapping fluid, it's very thin and smooth. Even lighter than sewing machine oil. When I'm done turning or sizing, I just put the brass on a towel on the floor and give it about 5-6 second blast of Brake Kleen. I then grab the 4 corners, stand up an alternate my arms in a see-saw like motion. All the brass comes out clean, cool to the touch and dry. Just an FYI, I bought a quart can of TapMatic back in the late 70's and it's still over half full.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd
