I'm thinking of buying an AR

I've really never had an interest in them but there going to be banded soon. I was thinking a short one with a 1x? scope, a small flash light and laser. Something for home defense and 15 yard zombies at night. I could just buy one or should I build one. Having a good trigger would be nice.

They are pretty cheap to just buy. I only paid 500 for my S&W mp sport 2. It is nice but needs different furniture, and mine needs a adjustable gas block. I put on magpul furniture for just over a hundred.

You'll fit right in.

I look a my AR the same way as a .22 rimfire, every gun safe needs one. And they are blast to just go out and shoot cans, water jugs, rotten apples and the wayward terrorist with.

Yeah, it's really just an assembly, so I would say it this way...if you've never handled or shot one I would suggest you do that first. Find someone that has one and fire it and see if you like it. I have put together many of them, but I always sold them off, it's just not me.
Now, if you shoot one and really like it then I would say get the stuff and put one together. They are so "customize-able" that if you just buy one by the time you get it the way you like it you will have spent money better put towards ammo or reloading components.

Edit: got a phone call in the middle of this...you say you would like a nice trigger, so you obviously want to be able to do some decent shooting and hit something. Personally, I don't really have any use for so called "tactical" types like an M4. Neat gun, I like them, but again, not me. The one I have managed to keep for a few years is a heavy barrel, long range type rifle that is useful for things like woodchucks or going to a pit and setting skeet targets on one bank, getting back 3-400 yards and having some fun. If you can figure out what you are going to do with it you might be able to find one all done. Best of luck and have fun!!!

For a light gun, I highly recommend a Rock River Arms Carbine. For a heavy barreled gun, get a Stag Model 6? Oh, let me look. Yup! model 6 super Varminter. I own both and they’re great guns! Good luck. Scope? 5x Acog for the carbine.

And don’t stop worrying about a ban. In my home state of Delaware, there are “ban bills” moving thru the State Legislature as I type this. They’re going after semi-autos and magazines over 12 rounds. My wife and I are looking at houses in Wyoming.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these bills were introduced to coincide with Joe Biden’s campaign launch. He’s setting the stage in his home state to take it national if he gets elected. At this point in time, I see it as a 50/50 chance
