Ive always piped up on these threads that there is alot of misconceptions on paypal whether it be the fees involved to the sender on f&f or your recourse (none) if you use regular paypal which people think protect them from losing money. Once you step into the firearms world paypal hates you. What this member did was extra shitty and he needs to be outed right now

You can take this for what it's worth, but the bottom line for me is if someone on this forum (or anywhere else) was out $298.71 because of my mistake, I would make it right just to protect my conscience, maintain some credibility, and a positive trade history.

I put a down payment on some tickets using reg PP. When the time came to deliver there was no response from the seller so I checked with the ath dept where the tickets would come from and they had no record of that party buying any. I filed a dispute with PP and got my $$ back. No idea where PP got the $$ from if it was him or they ponied up.

Explain, please ?

It offers protection for a buyer, but returns can be forced upon you. Sorta like it's never final or a done deal. Like eBay you can say no returns but a buyer can file a SNAD and pretty much force you to accept it back. eBay protects buyers way more than sellers.

If you used a card for the F and F transaction you could go to the card company and file a issue. I would also refile with PP and not mention anything about what the item was.

If you paid a fee, you used a credit card right? Call your credit card. Dont tell them you were buying a gun or gun part. Just tell them you sent the money to the wrong person and paypal wont help.

I never thought about this, I work with a local bank and see them on a weekly basis.

Thank you for the heads up, I will stop there tomorrow.

Did you send the funds from a bank balance or from a PP balance? If the former your bank may be able to help. One of the reasons it's always better to pay with a CC than with a debit card. Much easier to dispute a CC charge.

Call pp tellem it went to the wrong address.
Doesnt matter what for so dont say or call it vw parts.
Seller should confirm and ask same to paypal. If not hes no good.
Forum boss should know but may not be able to resolve.
Good luck.
Most here are straight up. Most better than me.
Thanks.

Friends and Family cost me like 8.50. If you go the other way both party's lose money. Its like a 3 % fee on the seller.

Either way you would have paid the $8.50 but apparently you still paid with a CC. If you paid with a CC you paid the $8.50 because the fee rests with the sell since it was PPFF.

ETA

That's what's called faulty thinking. PP gets just one $8.50 regardless if you used PPFF or Regular PP. Either way you paid it because you added an extra $8.50 to the amount sent. The seller is just giving PP the same $8.50 that you gave to him.
Since you used a CC call your CC company and start a chargeback because you were given the wrong address to send the money to. Your CC company will take the money from PP who will in turn take it from either of the 2 parties involved.

For the life of me I will never understand a bunch of gun loving folks constantly using the most anti-gun, communist liberal democrat run outfit on this earth, to buy guns no less. You'd pretty much have to deal directly with Beto O'Rourke or Diane Fienstein to get someone that hates guns as much as the libtards at paypal. Not to mention hypocrites...they and their partner in crime ebay hate guns and want them all to evaporate, so to put on a show they completely stopped allowing anything to do with them at one time....then they realized how much money they were losing and quietly made it so you could buy and sell again.
Don't get me wrong, I am really sorry this happened and I absolutely hate to see anyone loose money, but...lay down with dogs you get fleas!!!
