I think I know who the bad guy is. I won't name him at this time, but anyone can find him The OP said he made the transaction last Thursday. that was the 24th. I checked his posts on his ID page and he bought what looks like an AR upper on that date. Not saying it's him, but that is the only thing the OP bought on that day. I really do hope the Boss gets involved. The OP should go up and leave him a blistering feedback. I know I would.
Nice work!! He knows we are on to him since he was just viewing this posting.

I looked your original post several times over. Did you wait 5 days to check with him and see if funds did transfer?

Yes you nailed it, its not a secret if a person looks at my posts. If I get my money back thru my Bank card I wont feel so bad. Either way you don't treat people like this. I have never had a bad experience on any forms with people. But there is always one that stands out in the crowd.

I got a reply from PayPal saying my funds had been transferred with in a few mins. I then sent him a e mail saying payment has been sent. Then not a word from him till this morning.

It doesnt matter if he personally gives you 2x your money back and the item what he did was wrong. SPJ is over there wrapping the torches right now

We agreed on a price then he tacked on 39.50 for shipping. I agreed with it.

Im not mad anymore just very disappointed in the person.

99% of the time the paypal payment doesn't go through because the misspelled email doesn't exist.

If the misspelled email does exist, then i would get immediately suspicious of the seller.

If it doesn't go through then paypal leaves it in limbo and all you have to do is open it and figure out how to cancel it. I've done this many times. In fact, I've never had this fail and Ive done this many times.

Paypal online help might not know how to expain this to you, especially after you told them it was firearms related. Next time don't call up and say, "Hello Paypal, I need help with a gun related purchase I made on your site."

I’m sure you are aware that $39.50 shipping for an AR upper is a gouge. Since this guy apparently isn’t accepting responsibility for his own “mistake” (jury is still out on that term) now is the time to get the Boss in the loop. At the very least, Mr X won’t continue his reindeer games on this site.

From the outside looking in, it appears as though it may have been intentional.

He might of intentionally sent you the wrong email and now he is spending your 298.71 because he might have more than one email address.
Since he is spending it he won't send it back.
Why you don't out him on here is beyond me.
Why you bought from someone without a complete profile and only 10 posts without checking him out better is also beyond me.
It is also beyond me why so many people use PayPal while they know that PayPal is anti gun and won't do a thing to help you....

In my opinion, you need to get the boss involved, so that at the very least the guy may get banned which would protect others. Then you need to give him bad feed back to help protect others.
I truly hope the guy makes it right and gives you the money or the item! We don't need to worry about people like him on here! Good luck.

Is there another electronic / web option ?

I'm not searching for options. I am simply not going to spend money with companies that make political statements with their polices. I'm a drop in the bucket, but Walmart, PayPal, Youtube, etc. aren't going to spend a penny of money that came out of my pocket to pursue and antigun and pro liberal agenda. So, the option I am choosing is to opt out. It's just my opinion, and it makes me happy.

For example, I'm sick of Walmart, so I don't go in the store. Monday, when I bought groceries, I bought from the IGA, owned by a local guy, who is actually in the store, and takes the time to say hello and is there anything he can help me with.

It's just me and I'm not judging anyone who does different. Besides, any time you give money to and individual on the web, you're taking a chance. Most of us are lucky most of the time.

Depends on who you use to ship an item. I usually use UPS as USPS is why more if not shipping flat rate.
good example a scope fully insured was going to be $38+ USPS, UPS $27.15 I also found out the UPS stores are way more they charge $3.00 per $100 insured, where as UPS is $1.15 and this just went up recently.
so the same scope would have cost me $24+ in insurance with the UPS store, regular UPS $8.00!

Last week Thursday I agreed to purchase a gun related item on one of the for sale boards. I asked, do you want Postal money order or PayPal. He says PayPal and send me his info. I send him the funds the same day. I hadn't heard from him since last Thursday. So I sent him a PM yesterday and he responds today that he hasn't received any money. I take a screen shot of my PayPal account and send it to him. He missed spelled his email and the money went to someone else. Now I copied and pasted the email just like he sent it to me. I contacted PayPal and being its friends and family and a gun related item they said it out of there hands. It is there policy that firearms and anything related to them can't be bought using PayPal.

He says hes not going to argue with me, said yes it was his mistake ( I have all this in PM 's from him ). He is not out anything I'm out 298.71 and I did nothing wrong and says he is going to keep the product. That it is no longer for sale.

What can a person do??

As I like to say, making a mistake is human, it does not define your character. How you handle the mistake is what defines your character. This seller is showing his true character. What can you do?

If your Paypal is linked to a credit card, contact them and have the charge taken off. It was the sellers fault, you have the proof. IF that doesn't work, send him a letter of demand to ship the item or pay you the money you sent via his instructions. If that doesn't work, contact the consumer fraud department of your local D.A. office and also send a letter of complaint to the Attorneys General in your state. Be sure to name PP in your complaint. Is he using a phone to carry out interstate commerce? Might be an angle there.

You may not get your money back, but you will bring him to the attention of Law Enforcement. You may not be the only one that has had trouble with this guy.
