"I'm beginning to think its me...."

you can shoot good groups with a Bipod just takes good concentration, not moving when your squeezen the trigger or touching it..shoot like you don't give a chit be relaxed you will have good days and bad, lower your expectations, and those good days will come more often, if your tryin to force it won't happen

SO I'm load testing 6 Dasher and got 2 decent loads.... 31.4 Varget under 105 Berger Targets and 31.9 Varget under 105 Berger targets. Front bipod rear bag....basically F-class

Both shoot well under half moa 4 round groups and about 0.50 moa 5 shot groups - one round "flyer" outside the cluster of 4 holes. I've tested seating depth and shoulder bump and neck tension to death. I anneal all my cases. I've weighed my bullets and they all range in between 104.9 and 105.1 grains. Peterson brass.

Both have from 6 - 10 fps S.D. and under 20 fps E.S. Not alot to pick one load over the other.

I'm starting to wonder if its my shooting technique causing the "flyers' - how I'm setting up behind the rifle, shouldering the rifle, cheek placement, something.

Looking for technique / tips on shooter / rifle interaction and engagement that gets consistent accurancy and / or eliminates flyers.

Thanx. Much.
It could very well be “you” but keep in mind that low SD and ES number do not guarantee the smallest or the most consistent grouping, if you could post your tuning ladders, the fellas could ensure you are in a stable node. I too am plagued with spit shots or split groups but at much greater distance and I’m pretty confident in my tune leaving shooter error and tracking as the most obvious culprit .

1. What is the barrel brand, and what is the condition of the crown?

2. Are you contacting the stock with your head?

3. Try load 2950 fps with bullets .007” past first touch into lands.

4. Let someone else shoot the rifle.

Re #1, this site exists because I had a Rem .260 that was nearly always giving me a flyer in every group. I changed to a PacNor 6BR bbl and the flyers completely disappeared with same hold, same rest, same scope, same stock, same action and trigger.

Lesson learned prompted me to launch 6mmBR.com.
Point #4 is key. Find the best shooter you have access to and have him shoot 3-4 five shot groups, with 15 minutes between each group. If their groups are not similar size as yours, you are doing something wrong.

Agree, I began my original post with "after ruling out equipment related issues". However, I've seen it a lot in competitive shooting, albeit, pistol, guys chasing firearms, ammo, etc. related issues trying to "buy" success, yet wouldn't invest the time in dedicated meaningful practice.

When I shot on the Army Post Pistol team, we spent a lot of time working on fundamentals and diagnosing targets. I guess I had that ingrained in me because it worked.
I've seen target buying on the trap field too. You can by a new k80, Kolar, Perazzi whatever. You still have to have the fundamentals and practice...
