If rechambering a barrel which br variant would you choose?

That would have to be one damned fine barrel with low round count before I'd go to the trouble and expense to remove, thread, chamber, and head-space again. Also have optimum twist, and contour.

Disregard if you can do all that yourself, and just want a project. jd

I have a 6 Brx reamer. Literally, no one has asked for a 6 Brx barrel since I got it. I don't remember the last time anyone even discussed the 6brx on this forum. Huh...

My answer would be 6bra or Dasher. Either one with 140 to 160 freebore.
There’s plenty of BRX’s out there. The Dasher just has a catchy name. I chamber more BRX’s than Dasher’s out here but almost all my work is for the F Class community. Damn fine cartridge. The only reason to choose a Dasher over a BRX is if you want factory brass. Both are excellent cartridges capable of virtually the exact same performance.

So you just found a load for your 6BR..
now your wanting to put another variant on your savage??

Go 6BR !!! Can’t beat it, it’s a grouping cartridge !!! Feeding a 40* from a mag might be troublesome…
I've had other loads that shot really well, the problem is they discontinued the first bullet, 105 amax. The second was the 108 eld and they are like finding hens teeth in my area. My rifle is a 3 screw dual port single shot so mag feeding isn't a problem.

What problem are you looking to solve? What is the BR not doing?
Honestly it's my absolute favorite and performing well! I'm mostly looking for a winter project, trying to decide whether to rechamber this barrel or buy a blank and start new. This will be my first chamber job so I don't want to use a really nice blank. I'll most likely try and rechamber this one or get a green mountain. I also figured for my first project it would be easier to start with a barrel that was already chambered and just go up to the next step so to speak.

There’s better bullets than those fireform bullets…

This is where you should put $$ towards rather than a barrel…..
You should look into Berger, Bart’s, VTac (Vapor Trail), or other custom manufacture-

I’ve seen several factory barrel savage outshoot custom guns.. using custom bullets-

Winter project- tune your gun !!!
This is my opinion, not worth much…
