If money was not an object for your build?

Save on the Gunsmith and just buy a Vudoo. The 3-60 single shot. Shilen ratchet barrel. Mine sits in a Sinclair F-class right now. Have a McMillan prone to drop it in also. Any Remington Chassis will fit. Pick what ever you like. Urban Rifleman has some nice laminated Benchrest stocks.

If money wasn’t an object for a build what action/stock/barrel/Gunsmith for .22 rimfire 100 yard bench rest shooting. I use a Neo front rest and Lenzi rear.
Thanks,
Mitch
Naildriver 2007.

Before I invested much in a high quality rig I would first figure out just how much satisfaction I got out of shooting 100 yards with a .22 LR.

The .22LR round is moved around so much by conditions shooting more than 50 yards/50 meters outdoors is kinda like rolling dice rather than precision shooting. If you only shoot in good conditions or in wind protected areas maybe you will be happy, but in average conditions you may not.

A good shooting ..22lr is one that can shoot MOA. Cost about $900.00-$1200.00. A great shooting .22LR will shoot about .500 -.750 MOA and will cost upward of $4000.00.

The best .22lr benchrest rifles in the country rarely agg. under .400 for 25 rounds at 50 yards.

Point being there is a great price difference in a good .22LR and a great .22LR rifle, but there is only a small difference in performance. In average conditions it can be really difficult to tell a good rifle, from a great rifle. Hence all the confusion over factory rifles being able to compete with custom, purpose built rifles.

All of this said, if you plan to compete at major .22LR benchrest events you have to have the best you can get or your backside will be handed to you. The events I'm speaking of are IR 50/50, ARA and PSL. all of which are shot at 50 yards and 50 meters.

Mr. Harper,
With respect, if you want to see precision shooting at 100 yards I would visit a Smallbore prone match. I know 100 yard shooting is “out of the BR wheelhouse” so to speak, but you may be surprised with what is accomplished by Master class competitors.

Hope to run into you some time at Bert’s and all is well with you and yours.

Best Regards,
Ken

Ken,

I've always been impressed with position shooters, especially when I shot three position matches in Germany. No doubt there have been, and continue to be remarkable performances. I watched a girl on youtube shoot an egg at 300 yards with a .22lr yesterday.

I suppose it depends on what precision shooting means to you. Hitting that egg took many shots. The fact she hit it didn't equal precision to me.

Maybe I can talk you into coming to the IR 50/50 Nationals at the Kettlefoot range in Bristol Va.

They are shooting the sporter nats Friday, the three gun nats, Saturday, and the Unlimited nats on Sunday.

Hope you can come.

In todays market, ammo would be a top priority.
Wind flags can be home made.
Rifles are available.

I can think of several rifles from custom builders that i would love to have.
The OP just HAD to stipulate 22lr, and 100 yard BR...
i've not had any issues with getting ammo this year.. all at regular prices.. not those hyper inflated prices..

FYI, the pqp trigger at killoughs is a falvio match. Fantastic triggers made by serio B. Vudo isn't gonna compete with the br rifles I know of.
Psl, ara ......
Apparently you don't know Cliff Arnold finished 7th at the ARA Nationals this month shooting -----wait --for --it a Vudoo!

yea, yea, yea, one tournament doesn't mean much, but who knows what the future holds.

and who knows what Cliff has done to that Vudoo???

I always remember anything can and will happen in rimfire.
