IBS Ballot Thread deletion

We are all shooters. If everyone worked together for one common goal to keep the IBS thriving no matter what discipline you shoot instead of fighting amongst one another thinking that one discipline is going to FK one another no matter who gets elected things would be better for everyone that way. And people ask me why I am so disgusted with the IBS and the baby bullshit that is going on. If everyone followed the fkin rules none of this shit would be going on. It's like a bunch of damn kids fighting to stay playing in a sand box.

I think if you plan on making major changes you should let everybody know your plans before the election takes place, not run a basement campaign with surprises

I have stayed away from this topic. It reminds me of when I was on the long range committee of the IBS. Im far removed from all this being on the other side of the country. What I know, is Im just disappointed. All I want is for everyone to settle on a format and shoot under the same rules. I dont care what it is. Guys, this is fun, the tip of the spear. The smallest groups in the world. Focus on that. Groups, friends, and food. The fighting needs to stop. I wont be a part of it until it does.

Sure seems simple enough.....

The problem is that the fighting has been going on since the group left the NBRSA and formed the IBS. It won't stop until all the old guys that hold a grudge about it check out.

Then maybe there can be 1 unified organization.

I feel pretty much the same as Alex does. I think those with personal grudges should get together and hash them out, settle their differences and then if they feel the need let the members know either through a message from IBS executive board or if they feel the need a joint post here.
Maybe the board needs to do a zoom meeting between all those involved and get this stuff resolved, before the annual meeting.
Airing it out on a public forum is not the place, to many people not involved inject ill feeling and only make it worse for everyone else.

I will ask again to please keep it civil ((or I will take it down again) and don't forget to vote.

RKS if anyone has a question or greivance they can contact the members of the board. All of their numbers are on the IBS website. Pick up the phone and call with your concerns. After all that is ultimately the only way to resolve any issue.
A public forum is not the place.

Personally, I don't see a problem with discussing this type of thing on a public forum. As I understand it, it was discussed more than once privately to no avail. So what's next? Also, if everything is above ground, why does anyone mind it being public? I do understand there are times that I wouldn't agree due to the personal nature of issues that can come up but not when it comes to election of officers. I'm not taking a side but that's how I see it, regardless of who is involved or the organization.

Can someone please clarify for me, the online voting process, timelines, and what all is or isn't voted on online vs the annual meeting and/or paper ballots? I looked back and there is some confusion, probably my fault. What I was able to find clearly stated that online voting was to take place AFTER the annual meeting (meeting in Jan., online voting through the month of Feb.)and only for agenda items.. That alone seems confusing. Why would there be online voting AFTER the meeting, where agenda items were just voted on? Serious question and not trying to ruff any feathers. I think it's understandable to have questions, if that's actually how it works. I do think that a 1 year minimum membership and at least some match participation should be required to vote. I think maybe the 1 year thing could be waived with say 6 matches contested in the first year, for example. These are just ideas and I think they should go for any org, so I'm not picking on IBS. Either way, computers sort those things out without breaking a sweat.

Gunsandgunsmithing it is my understanding that online voting is not happening this year. Not sure why.
As far as agenda items or voting issues I mark my ballot N/A for the long range stuff. I don't shoot it so I'm not all that concerned about it. Probably wrong on my part but that is just how I feel.
I don't mind discussing issues, but I don't like when tempers and bad feelings for one another start to take over. Those types of post are better off talking to one another to resolve any issues there may be. They serve no purpose other than adding to the problem between the parties involved, and I feel that should be done in private, not publicly. Just my opinion.

I personally feel information is important, if the Biden family's dealings had been exposed the country might not be in the mess were in.
That's not a shot at anyone, but I feel if we spent more time learning from our mistakes and less denying them, we'd be a lot better off.
I'm as guilty as anyone at that...

Count me among those who think public discussion is a good thing, as long as it's kept civil and polite. If someone has a personal beef with someone else, please hash it out amongst yourselves. But things involving policy, or the membership at large... the more transparency, the better.

That said, I think we have to acknowledge that part of the problem is getting people to step up. Clubs and organizations universally have a tough time getting people to do the heavy lift - the volunteer work - that running those clubs and organizations inevitably requires. Heck, sometimes it's hard even getting people to pull target duty at a match!

And so when you have people who ARE willing to step into the breach, to put forth the time and effort to run a match, to run for office, and to do the many other thankless things necessary so the rest of us can enjoy this sport... we surely need to give them their due. And our deep thanks. Without them we wouldn't have diddly.

That said, when something appears to have gotten somewhat tilted, it's fair to ask why.

And, yeah, the notion that it's somehow okay for a bunch of family and friends to join an organization - folks who have never shot a match and probably never will shoot a match - especially in a year in which the membership interval is being shifted to a calendar year and so those new "associate" members can join for very little dollar outlay (membership being pro-rated)... in advance of a vote... well, the very least we can say is that the optics of that aren't great. Seems to me it's a fair question to ask what's going on with that, and is that the way we want it.

Mostly, I'll just offer what my wife said when I came back smiling from a rifle match some time ago.

"You were with your people."

Saying we had in the Army, "Fix the problem not the blame"kinda works here. I just wish the shooting community as a whole would stop the infighting, because the other side is listening and know damn well how to divide and conquer. These issues need to be discussed in a civil manner and resolved. Let`s all chill and get it right.
