I need another press. Hornady Lock N Load?

I use a Forester Coaxial press for all my case sizing anymore. The lock rings slide in and out of the press without effort for multi-stage sizing operations. Check them out!!

I use the Century 21 priming tool. I looked at the Redding T7, but it's $150 more.
Someone had a new one for sale on here within the last 2 weeks or so, might try to find it (Redding T7) I wanted it but have an xl650, a Harrells sportsman and a co-ax so it was just a "want". ;-)

Haven't seen the Co-Ax available for quite a while.

I use the Hornady LNL single stage for some rifle ammo. I have each die set up with the quick change bushing and the die locked in place. Little extra outlay (about $5 apiece in 10-packs), but very convenient to change.

Accuracy ammo gets treated to Wilson dies on an arbor press.

I went back to using a rockchucker with the hornady bushing set up - I had been using a turret for quite awhile. I find the single stage with bushings a simple (much simpler and quicker!) way to change dies/calibers, and you get the benefit of a robust single stage platform, much more robust than a turret. The fitting in my 'chucker came out fairly easily.

The switch over was not inexpensive, but the sale of my turret press and turrets more than paid for it.

Is this the conversion kit you used ?

My Rockhucker has this kit on it even tho it only has a 223 rcbs X Die in it 99% of the time because I use my LNL progressive for all else for my 223 service rifle loads.

The Hornady LNL conversion kit I used was under $20 and came with 3 bushings

An additional 10 pack of bushings is under $50

I help any new service rifle shooters I get going into reloading that have single stage presses set up their press with this kit for their resizing / depriming die. a die with a seater for their 200 / 300 yard load and another die with a seater for their 600 yard loads. Makes it fools proof.

I have them reload like that for awhile then I invite them over to use my LNL Progressive to do 500 - 600 rounds of their 200 / 300 yard mag length ammo.

They smile when I do that. Some even gift me one or two of my favorite bourbons

GSS: yes, this is the kit I use. I said it was "not inexpensive" as I reload 5 different rifle calibers, so when you add up the number of dies that need to be "bushed"...

If you are looking for a progressive press, do yourself a favor and get a Dillon. If you want to do yourself a really big favor, get a Dillon 1050. I am running a CNC milled tool head on my 1050 to size my brass now. The only thing I do on my coax now is seat bullets. Disclaimer: This ammo is used for PRS type shooting not BR.

And get an autodrive...actually having to pull the handle is unnecessary in the modern age. We have robots for that now :)

Mine does not. Important to have your press dialed in 100% if you are going to run a Rev 1 Ammobot.

I also use the LNL system on my Lee Classic Cast press. I love the convenience and I have purchased several of the 10 packs for the sleeves. I also use the Hornady lock rings so that nothing ever shifts from one use to the next. I don't use the Classic Cast priming system. I like the feel of the Lee Ram-Prime system on top of the Lee Press. The top half of this sits in an LNL sleeve with lock ring, so it takes very little time to set up for on-press priming. I adjusted the height of the Ram Prime collar so that the press handle reaches its lower stop at the same time the primers are seated to the correct depth (.005 to .006 below the case head).

I like the press; but i ran into a fairly recent bad batch of LnL quick-change bushings on my AP press. I don't think 20 VT takes too much force to resize; I found the issue running 6.5 Grendel and 308. I can see how 308, but seriously, I'm not sizing machine gun brass... Anyway; I also have a Lee classic cast and I am very impressed with the breech lock and the primer catch system. just keep the primer press tool installed in the press since it doubles as a deflector.

What was bad about your LnL bushings?

I’m a Dillon fan due to their reliability and excellent customer support... recommend 650 if affordable...
Dillon. Absolutely. I really like loading precision ammo on my 550. No priming issues as I only load small primer calibres with it. The large primers get loaded on a Rock Chucker. No run out issues either. Great press.

If you had purchased a Dillon way back when, you would not be reading this. Dillon has a no BS lifetime warranty. Your total out of pocket cost would have been to box the press up and ship it back to them.
I bought a Square Deal B in 45 acp more than 30 years ago, iirc. Paid a whopping $170. A buddy and I shot IPSC. We loaded at my house, because I had more room in my shop. We saved the spent primers in a 3lb coffee can. When I finally dumped them, I had two 3lb cans full, and a third more than half full. I could barely lift one. I had some indexing issues finally, and sent it back. They just sent me a new one, and said "sorry...".

I have one and I absolutely don't like the priming system, ck out the Redding T7, just my opinion
How about the Forster/Bonanza CO-AX? Quick change dies [snap in/snap out]. I've used it for years over 10's of thousands of 223 rounds. Runout on loaded ammo is always, on the rounds I've sampled, 1 thousandth or less.
It has a separate priming station built in - although it is very slow to use.

Yeah! Their's is really a no BS warranty. I've had my 550B since 1993. Every problem/issue over the years they just send for free the parts needed.

I use the Hornady die conversion on my RCBS rock chucker and it works just fine, doing each step, then switching to the next die, all of them with the adapters on them and adjusted.
As for priming I use the RCBS bench primer.

What was bad about your LnL bushings?

The bushing heat treat was not done properly making the contact lugs on the press-side bushings brittle and break off.

Hornady was fantastic with quick replacements, which failed also.

In my troubleshooting I found that the major culprit is the sizing die and the LnL bushings can't handle sizing dies that need to can over. My 6.5g is like that, in which to achieve correct sizing I'm ~1/4 turn tighter than touching the shellholder on my RCBS. My LnL AP was set to make the same size, it's not the same distances as the RCBS, but you get the idea. I "fixed" my problem by installing an RCBS threaded press bushing into my LnL AP for the sizing station.

The Lee Classic Cast breach-lock has sized many 30-06 and 338L and 6.5 Grendel, without trouble. Plus the handle length and angle are all highly configurable.

LnL quick-change bushings were a good idea, but I've lost trust in them for sizing at least. I have a full thread on this site about it. I first noticed it when I found the "flakes" as seen in the attached image.

The ultimate single stage press is the US made RCBS A4. I took cylindrical 505 Gibbs basic and sized it to 505 Gibbs in a single pass. Did not lose a case, and I made about a hundred. Also sized the cylindrical case to my wildcat 550 Gibbs with zero issues. I used to be a double rifle addict, and reloaded all of the big 3" and 3.25" cases for them. Including FL sizing. DR chambers are a bit on the"loose" end of tolerances, due to the usage. When Cape Buffalo or Elephant are within yards, or even feet, you want to be able to throw two loaded rounds in fast.

I have the LNL press and have used to make 20p brass, also for sizing several different calibers. Never had a problem with the bushings. Even with my 260AI brass or old military '06 brass with a heavy cam over. Though, I'm more prone to shave down a shell holder several thousandths that stress the press linkage and bushings.
