I got my new rifle tonight!

I was surprised to get the call but I picked it up from the gunsmith tonight. (Terry Wright) A 6BR with a 29" Benjamin barrel, .272 chamber, a new M 700 receiver and a bolt from Dave Kiff. Terry had to true the action a bit and it sits in a 40X stock that is in fine shape from Numrich Arms. It is pillar bedded. I have little time to shoot it before Monday when I go for knee surgery, though.

John Benjamin from Portland, Or made the chrome moly barrel. I have only a day or maybe two to shoot this thing. The barrel was bead blasted and then blued. it looks nice. I will either do something to the stock or buy something else.

John,
Good luck with your knee surgery. I'm sure your new gun will help you get through the recovery faster.
Have a great 2011.
Barry

John, enjoy the rifle and we're all wishing you well and hoping for a speedy recovery on the surgery.

A new project rifle to tinker with should help some of the time pass more quickly. I hope you can make it down here later in the year for the matches we talked about.

Happy New Year!

I shot the new rifle today off the bench at 100 yards and it did pretty good, although I had only a few rounds to play with - 75 Hornady's. Probably not the best choice but I got it zeroed. I am not at all fond of the new Remington trigger so I ordered a new one, a Shilen competion trigger, from Brownell's. I have this on the 6mmRAT rifle and I like it. I had to order an additional part for the bolt stop for installations on new M 700 receivers. The range was pretty crowded so I left early, but I think the rifle is a real shooter. The butt stock is a bit too long, though.

My new Shilen competition trigger came today and it is pretty light compared to the original RemingtonX-Mark Pro trigger. I trimmed the butt stock as well.

John I tried a shilen match trigger and got some bad news, they work great and feel even better.LOL How ya feelin?

Nice rifle JohnO! Hope the surgery went well and a speedy recovery to ya! I have to agree that the Remington 40x stocks have a really nice look to them.

Was your knee surgery a total replacement, if so don't scrimp on the rehab as i speak from experience ( both knees replaced)

I really like those rifles you have pictured their. I never have had a wood stock on a rifle but i am going to have to break down some day and have 1. Those are just so clean looking. I would really like to know a little about each rifle if you have the time to post it some day. Thanks ....DAN.....

My surgery was cancelled at the last minute due to some small scratches on my leg, probably from the cats. So, now it is supposed to happen on February 21st which would really screw up my shooting schedule so I may reschedule it for November.
