My new Anschutz

Butch
There is nothing like an Annie. I have a Mod 54 that was built in 1958 and it shoots. I mean it really shoots. It came with all the Olympic dodads including two rear sights and two triggers along with a custom made steel carrier. Wish I knew the history of it. Have a feeling a very serious shooter owned it at one time.
Nick
When you have some extra time, some pics of your '50s 54 would be fun to look at.

Butch, saw a post on another channel that this won't be competitive in BR. While that may be the case in the Top Tier rifles in say ARA or IR50, neither are 90% of the rest of our rifles either. Nor do I think you need it to be as I believe you've said it is for your club matches, which I'm sure are very competitive in themselves. You won't be outgunned imo
I own one & shoots as well as any custom BR rifle I've ever owned, which have all been in the 90% range.
Enjoy!

Keith,

That is so true. I shoot only a match 54 now sold my Falcon nearly 2 years now. had my best showing with the 54 in October. maybe not the nationals, but for me I am happy with mine.
All I have to say to Butch is look at Joe Besche and what he has done with an Anschutz!

What did you do with this rifle? Did you get a stock and shoot it. How did it turn out? Inquiring minds want to know.
Nick

Nick, read my first couple posts. The Terry Leonard stock is at "Cigar Cop" shop for inletting and bedding. Mike Ezell has already fit one of his tuners to it. My stock is supposed to be ready in Feb 2022. It is scheduled to go to Kenny Youngblood for paint. If you are a car guy and been around, you will know of Kenny.
Kenny does some work out of a friends shop.

Lee,
You and your Annie were one of only 2 competitors I was worried about in October in AZ. If you could campaign that rifle in sanctioned matches, you would be a force to be reckoned with. Of that, I have no doubt. I am certain with a little work tuning and lot testing, Butch will do quite respectable in his matches shooting his.

About 30 yrs ago I acquired a Valmet singleshot "biathlon" gun that got left behind at the 76 Olympics in Montreal, supposedly, can't prove that though, never bothered with trying to, either. It was something else to shoot, gophers at 200 yds just were not safe, thoroughly enjoyed that gun, came with full set of irons and inserts. Little heavy for packing around too far though, better to sit in one place and plink at distance, learned a lot from it. Sold it a few yrs ago to a fella in Sask, he loves it. Almost bit on an Anschutz MSR over the BF sale week, decided to try out a CZ457 AT one 24" instead. Maybe toss a Yo Dave spring kit in it and see how that goes. Still have a set of Walther sights with a Gehmann diopter I may put on there as well. Toys to play with.
