My new 6BR!

I got my new/old 6BR today from the local gunsmith, Terry Wright who did an excellent job. I bought a take off Hart barrel from my friend Gary Noble and Terry rechambered it for 6BR and re bedded it for an old 40X stock I had. He also sold me a Remington M700 receiver. I bought an old style RPA flat top sight from Otto Weber and a barrel band. I don't have a lot of money in this and I am anxious to shoot it and thrilled to get it. The finish on the Hart barrel is really neat.

I would love to shoot in Phoenix in March but my surgeon might have something to say about that after my January knee replacement. I always have wanted to meet German at Ben Avery.

John, we'd love to have you here! We can arrange for a target puller for you ($20/day), that will take a load off your knees. Our Mid Range Championship in April might be good for you in terms of post-surgery recovery time and having a good match. That one will go about 4 days plus a practice, although you can shoot all or any part of it. Come on down!

German, I'd love to make it. I will have to check the calendar.

By the way, I sold all my Leica 35mm stuff recently. I took a big loss, but it financed my other new bolt gun.

What it looks like so far. I made some rather crude looking aluminum caps to fit over the RPA knobs which were pretty small,

john that looks very nice! I hope you're able to make it out here in April, that rifle will be perfect for our match then.

John,
You wern't kidding,.............You are obsessed :D Thats a nice rifle, I hope you recover in time to shoot with German. I wished I could be there with the two of you ::)
Wayne.

I went out to the local range today to get it bore sighted and tested at 100 yards. I loaded some 107 Sierras and 29 grains of Varget and once I was zeroed off a rest, I shot a very nice group. The rear sight ran out of clicks on the bottom so I came home and made a shim for the front sight base just to test it again. I don't intend to use this at 100 yards, actually. If this shoots as well at 600, I think I have a very accurate barrel.

I love the old school, new school look.I wish I had an old 40x stock like that.My cousin got one years ago from sarco in new jersey,he refinished it and it looks great.Remington made some really cool stuff years ago.Good luck with that knee replacement.

You can buy a 40X stock from Numrich arms. I Ordered a spare stock that was supposedly refinished, with buttplate for $54. We will see when I get it.

I have to agree with that John. I love that look!

I'd love to see a stock made with chestnut with the worm holes in it. I think it would look really cool.

Great lookin rig JohnO!

Let me know what you think about the stock you ordered.
Iam thinking on ordering one for a build.

The stock came yesterday and it is in very nice shape with the buttplate but no bottom rail. No dings or dents. (I subsequently found one to buy) The next grade down might be the better deal if you are going to use a different butt plate. I think it is well worth the money if you want just a prone rifle.
