Have to respond to the open range folks. I agree, what a great deal to live in an area where public land is plentiful, and close. Or, better yet, you have your own privat
That was hilarious! “Couldn’t track a dump truck thru the mud” - classic! For those that hunted Africa, you know about the skills of experienced native trackers. For those that haven't, these guys can find a drop of blood, a fragment of bone or a clump of hair and track wounded animals for miles and in the end find them. Not sure if this will appear but here's one of those "guys" like the OP spoke of.

Try owning a gun shop and listening to all the stories, You just have to grin and bite your teeth. One of these days one will catch me in a bad mood and I will probably lose a customer. You wouldn't believe how many one hole rem 7400's they are out there.
742, 7400 et al......however, I do have a bud who considers each and every rifle a personal accuracy challenge. W
He will tinker, trigger tune and potter around with them till 5/8 - 3/4" is achieved. Then either returns to cuz, nephew, uncle or random owner or sells. No challenge = no fun.
But I do know what you mean.
"TACKDRIVER" is my most favorite term. I just haven't seen any 2# tracks with 4" heads. Ever.
There is a fella down in Bay City, Tx that has modified one of these things and markets it as a deer feeder shooting corn. Has a hopper, timer, igniter and everything. The idea is to not have your feeder in your shooting area. It also keeps game from helping themselves. I can only imagine the pain if someone should be downrange when the feeder trips.
