I can't make this up, no matter how hard it is to believe.

Yeah, I think I can top it. Last summer I overheard one of the range “gurus” espousing the benefits of mixing powders to obtain the utmost in accuracy. Sad thing about it was that he was telling guys new to reloading. Us old farts just kinda looked at each other, rolled our eyes, and kept our mouths shut until said “guru” left. Then we told as many of the new guys just how crazy and dangerous his advice was, and to stick with the reloading manuals. Unfortunately, some had already left. Yeah, I’ve heard some head scratchers, but this guy took the grand prize.
here's something the guru can use to stir them different powders together with.

the last time I shot at a public range, Piedmont NC ( a great set-up), some (nice) guys set up on either side of me w ARs & brakes, (that's OK) and proceeded to just unload beaucoup mags of ammo into 8" groups. or 16"... I had a headache after that and I was not feeling too safe at any time. A great R.O. kept them in line and all of us alive. I have shot at my last range. It's like Russian roulette. Plus the 25 yds zero is good for 1000. what?!

The cure for this one is to always take a .375 Ruger or similar with you, A 3-round volley while they are changing mags can work wonders...

Try owning a gun shop and listening to all the stories, You just have to grin and bite your teeth. One of these days one will catch me in a bad mood and I will probably lose a customer. You wouldn't believe how many one hole rem 7400's they are out there.

There is a fella down in Bay City, Tx that has modified one of these things and markets it as a deer feeder shooting corn. Has a hopper, timer, igniter and everything. The idea is to not have your feeder in your shooting area. It also keeps game from helping themselves. I can only imagine the pain if someone should be downrange when the feeder trips.

I got a giggle when I thought of a squirrel or rat in the tube chowing down on corn when it went off!

Would love to hear the real story of what a dumbass did here.
i found this pic on one of the FB forums I read - there are dozens, hundreds (?)of shooting forums... Mostly not alot of info there, but sometimes (this pic notwithstanding), there is something interesting. glad I was not nearby. thats kinda a long hand grenade.

Have to respond to the open range folks. I agree, what a great deal to live in an area where public land is plentiful, and close. Or, better yet, you have your own private land.
Sadly, I have to drive at least 20 minutes to many hundreds of thousands of acres of the same.
In this case, I drove 10 minutes to an indoor range with 100 yard moveable targets. No wind, no cold, no Bomb Cyclone as the media is so fond of reporting.
There are a whole bunch of us who shoot next to someone, sometimes. Mostly the experience is positive, sometimes not. This one was silly.
How fortunate am I to not freeze my ass off or practice 5 moa wind holds, any time I want.
Or, better yet, shoot a BB gun out to 1000. If it's good at 25 ya know!!!

I saw a guy load a TC Renegade with 2 {two} 405 gr Buffalo Bullets and 180 grs of Pyrodex,,,by his math if one bullet took 90 grs of powder 2 bullets should take 180 grs,,I left before he got the tin of caps opened..

We made one with a 3" or 4" sch.40 chamber, capped pipe nipple threaded in for a grip, and a piezio igniter. Fueled with acetylene would launch potatoes out the back door of the shop and drill the campaign billboard down and across the 5 lane street about 100 yds. Never blew it up, but sure made a lot of noise. We wore hearing and eye protection when we fired it off. Sighted in at 25, good for 1000! (Also used it to launch full bottles of beer mortar style, but that is another story.)

I just got back from a really enjoyable/productive session at my indoor range. I was creating a custom elevation tape for my PCP air rifle so I can dial out to 125 yards. I was all alone, not wearing hearing protection, nice. (pretty good groups I might add)
So, fella comes in with great fanfare. Sets up right next to me and starts shooting, at 25 yards.
He shoots 8 or 10 and then asks me what I'm shooting. I tell him it's a BB gun. He didn't care about that.
He can't wait to tell me he has a new 1,000 yard rifle. Factory ammunition.
I ask why he's shooting at 25 yards.
He says, and I'll raise my hand to this, "If it's good at 25, it'll be good at 1,000".
Another hand raise. I'll bet you can't guess the caliber.
I have shoot 1000 inch small bore 22 rim fire . we would sight in at 25 FEEt. Did quite well to. Tommy Mc
