Since Varget seems to be a good powder for the .223 you might try both. Remember to move one thing at the time and move in small increments in small capacity cases. Move the seating depth @ .003 at the time as well so as not to jump a node. Ultimately, a tuner could serve you well once the load development is good to go.I am shooting a Tikka 223 at 300 yds using varget and 80 gr SMK's seated five thousand off the lands. Group size averages 1 1/2 inch. To further develop the load would you start by adjusting powder charge or seating depth ?

1 in 8 twist 24" barrel, 24.4of Varget with CCI BR4 primer. I do not have a chronograph. The brass is virgin lake city from Graf'sDo you know the twist rate of you barrel?
Yeah, and my groups shrink a lot when I get much closer to the target.Wash target in extremely hot water!
