thats looking good in my limited experience Stan. Ive got a PM to and it will turn out some good work. when you set the dials, thats what it gives you. Just dont try to take .125 off in a pass. Anyway do you suppose the quality of the reamer has a little to do with this? ThanksI I had a little project to do today at home on my Precision Matthews lathe in which is not a flush system for The Cutting oil.
This chamber reamer has approximately 40 or 50 Chambers on it the majority of its life has been used in a flush system type chamber method I have used it myself here at home probably 10-12 chamberings.
Take a look at the chips and how uniform they flow back on this Reamer and look at the the chamber finish on this chamber. I lightly hit it with a piece of paper and that's it.
P.S look at the quality of chips it still makes.
The life of any reamer is how you manage in useing it with respect don't get over zealous.thats looking good in my limited experience Stan. I usually do my government jobs at home on my lathe.LOLStan

No pun intended you did a great job on that classic model 70 Winchester. Here is how an amateur's job looks on a PM 1340GT lathe, and how it shoots. It's easy to get a chamber job that shoots well, but making it look good like @Stan Taylor does takes expertise.

i think im gonna get a dro for my junky mill drill - im expecting having to figure alot out myself as this particular mill isnt worth putting alot into to me so thats true DROs could take alot of effort. sure would be nice though-That is the handle for the c-clamp that is holding the barrel vise to the welding table. Before I can drill hole and mount the vise with bolts, I need to get the mill DRO box off the welding table. Before I do that I need to install the DRO on the mill, and that is a huge job.
