Hornady One Shot

I have been using "One Shot" for a few years and have never had this happen. Instructions on using the lube were followed. Guess which three cases were "One Shot and which were Imperial Lube. I'll be taking the die apart today and check for gunk. Don't know what else to do. The Imperial Lube cases show just a tiny bit of circular mark. Do you think it's the die>

I have had the same experience.
Never had an issue with the aerosol, but I have with the pump.
Aerosol runs out of propellant, pump seems like a lack of lube.
Any more I add a bit of lanolin to pump lube.

FYI a lot of folks neglect to clean dies. Lube, carbon and brass can build up. I clean them with the same stuff I clean bores with.

I think your problem will go away if you clean your die. Just my two cents Tommy Mc

How many times has this brass been fired? Could it possibly be work hardening and giving the die more trouble to resize it than previously

In my experience the biggest problem that people have with one shot if they don’t completely clean out their die with break free or some other similar cleaner or alcohol before using it. One shot on its own works great but it interacts horribly with other lubes which from my experience helping any number of people is 99.9% of the problem that people have with one shot. I hated it as well when I started but now it’s all I use for any number of reasons.

For what it’s worth if you’ve already put lube on your brass then you have to clean your brass and your die before trying one shot or you have the same problem.

I use Imperial. I tried One Shot. “Ya gotta do this....ya gotta do that.....and still stuck cases!! I have three cans of the crap I’ll never use. Imperial is so easy and never fails to work. I just don’t have the energy to try to “make” something work!

Can of Imperial will last longer than I do.

Tried One Shot a couple of times and put it on the shelf. One of the aerosol cans leaked over the years and an oily stick residue resulted. Gave the other unused to someone I know who liked it. The only lube I’ve ever stuck a case on. Those almost look like chatter marks from sticking and then freeing until sticking again.

I bought another tin of Imperial. Mine was getting low. That was 3 years ago. I don't think there is a bottom in the tin.

Yes, @nmkid , every now and then you should inspect and clean your dies, regardless of the lube you choose.

The cleaning methods and condition of your brass are a variable that means how often you do this depends on your circumstances. Even the munitions factory dies which only see virgin brass, need frequent cleaning.

Similar to gun cleaning where some folks clean the bore but forget to clean the chamber, many of the things you should be doing depend on your situation. To make it easy, the same tools that are handy for chamber cleaning are applicable to the dies. A borescope is a good way to study the problem and to learn to make your technique efficient and no more aggressive then necessary.

Never have stuck a case with one shot, I clean die with one shot cleaner/lube. I don't use One Shot for all sizing. All my long action cases are lubed with a pad and RCBS case lube. Any forming is done with Imperial.

Sold, tell me where to send payment.
I take those 3 cans of 1shot. Lol

Can someone explain what the circular rings on the case are? I'm assuming it's not pending case head separation.

I ended up getting those same rings with redding S dies and Hornady one shot.

They went away the next time I sized my brass

Is it my poor eyesight or do the shoulders on those ctgs. on the right have a bulge in them.
