Case Lube.

I butted this question in, in another thread.

What is the difference between these three, is there any, do they all go hand in hand, should I get all? And yes, I neck-size only but didnt lube which was a bad idea.

Imperial Die Wax?
Imperial Dry Neck Lube?
Imperial application media?

Thanks.

Imperial makes three items as you have listed above.

Imperial Sizing Die Wax
Product comes in a tin and is a very slick wax used sparingly on necks to resize them. This product has been around for years and and is what I solely use for resizing cases. When using it, be sure not to get wax on the shoulders of the cases otherwise denting of the shoulder will occur.

Imperial Application Media
This product also comes in a tin and is a ceramic based media that uses a dry lubricant to apply to your case necks for resizing. This is the basis for the newer Imperial sizing application.

Imperial Dry Neck Lube
This product also comes in a tin and is an actual dry graphite powder lubrication needed for the dry case application method.

If you purchase the Imperial Sizing Die Wax, you need nothing else with this product. You just apply it either by cotton swab to the outside of your neck cases, or to an application pad and roll case necks over it.

If you purchase the Imperial Application Media, you will need the Imperial Dry Neck Lube to add to the media for it to work. In this method, you actually dip the case necks into the media and since it is a dry powder it does not contaminate your powder charge when inside your case neck.

One other alternative is to purchase Titanium Carbide Dies and Bushings. The use of resizing media and wax are not necessary as the properties of the Carbide steel are much finer and smoother than regular steel dies and the cases move in and out without sticking to the inside of the die body or bushings.

Skeeter

Thanks alot Skeeter. That about as clear of an answer as I could hope for. I´m going to get the dry lube and the wax, just to see which I like better.

Thank you.

no need for lube when you neck size or at least I don't have to.and some time or another you will need to full length your brass.thats if you are not haveing problems chambering them.and for me I use mink oil shoe polish.it comes in a bigger can and it cheeper.

Imperial Sizing Wax is the only thing you need. The small can will out last you. (A little goes a long way) ;)

Imperial Dry Neck Lube will leave your necks black, but it is the quickest and easiest way to resize necks that I've found. The applicator for this type of lube is small ceramic beads in a plastic flip cap container. You just put the cases in neck first and twist them around, they come out black and sooty looking, but the process suits my ambition levels. I suppose that this method could be beneficial because it also lubes the inside of the case necks and bullets seat with less friction. Anyways its easy.
