Hornady one shot lube

Tried when it first came out. Stuck a few cases. Cussed a lot. Threw it away & went back to Imperial. Life has been good ever since.
Don't like the stuff. Too many on this board have stuck cases from the stuff.
Hornady One Shot? Bad Ju Ju!!
Imperial only, because I'am in no hurry to stick a case and REALLY get pissed off.
And besides, it takes a little longer to apply Imperial and clean it off when I'am done. Again, no hurry.
Just another chance to inspect the brass for any defects BEFORE it's primed or powdered.

I do high volume loading, especially precision 5.56/.223 and I load on a progressive press quite often. I really do prefer One Shot lube. Make sure you follow instructions! Start with a CLEAN die.

I throw my brass in a bag, usually 200-300 at a time. I spray the lube in and shake it up. Then I spray it again, and shake up. Then drop the brass in a separate pan and wait fifteen minutes. I run through station one as a plain decapping die, then a Redding FL S-type bushing die without a bushing or expander, next I use an expander mandrel die to ensure the cases have a round neck because oftentimes case mouths get dinged in auto-loaders. Then they go to the wet tumbler with Lemishine and Dawn.

Then I trim/chamfer/deburr in one step. Next back to the press for a universal decapper (just in case a SS tumbling pin would happen to be stuck), a S-Type neck die with TiN bushing, then an expander mandrel, powder die, Forster BR seater die, and finally factory crimp die (depending on the round of course).

This works fast for me. Having to do lubing by hand would really slow down the process.

I like this process I even now follow it for bolt-guns/PRS loads.

Curious, how many stuck cases have you actually had when using One Shot? I’ve reloaded at least eight thousand cases with it, and never stuck a case. I do have to follow the directions - which admittedly are a bit more involved than wipe on/wipe off - so there is that inconvenience…

.

Have prepped tens of thousands of cases with one shot and never a stuck case. Also it’s actually easier than wipe on wipe off as you don’t have to wipe off and spraying on hundreds at a time is easier than touching each case. If doing 10-20 cases that’s fine if doing 500+ at a time it’s way too much work.

ETA here is a picture of the tough directions to follow. Most get tired and don’t read number 5 and get stuck cases. Lol

Well, what does the 2nd sentence in Step 5 say? Yeah, majority of users don't wipe it off. Now take the case you just sized and didn't wipe off and roll it in grit and tell me the the grit is not adhered to the case. My point is you still have to remove lube no matter what you use unless you don't mind getting grit in your chamber. I also don't like adding lube to inside fired case necks. That carbon residue provides uniform lubrication and should be brushed with a nylon brush and left intact.
Even if it was the best lube out there, I still couldn't use it as the aerosol spray gives me an immediate respiratory reaction.

That’s the new can. The old ones never said that but I don’t leave it on anyways. I toss them on the tumbler for 15 min and go. Comes off easy. The 1 min of rest time is the part I was talking about in 5.

I got 2 red cans of the stuff, I am guessing they are at least 25 + years old from when I last loaded pistol rounds, and both state to remove after sizing.

That was one of the selling points for One Shot. Not having to but maybe the lawyers had them put it on. I had cans that didn’t say remove and even Hornady would say that. Again I always did with that short tumble.

Uh oh, then be very careful cause OneShot uses n-Hexane as I recall. If you get these strong reactions, OneShot will certainly do you no good.

Hexane fumes creep and move around on the benches and ground like crazy so the work space needs to be well ventilated and make sure you don't have anything that could ignite fumes nearby.
