Hoarding reloading supplies?

I buy everything I think I will need whenever I find it available.
Dave how ya doin?
And your C-gar's have to figured into the equation.
I'm all about the half rounds and factory 2'nds. I use to be all about the Dominicans, but for some reason my tastes have turned to Nicaragua.
As far as me whiskey goes I'm enjoying some James Oliver aged in New oak barrels, which happens to be the exact same shit as my favorite Ghost Owl with is aged in a old wine barrel making it smoother and sweeter and a lot mellower. I should've bought a case when it was available, kinda feeling like a dumb ass for not doing so. One of these days I'll learn, but I won't be bitchin bout not having powder n primer.
Now back to you regularly scheduled program.

Hoarding is the word used by the unprepared and jealous for that preparation that created someone else’s stash to which they think they are entitled. Oh, and it better be cheap.

Confession: I used to be that guy. Unprepared. Unaware. Frustrated. But rather than whining about muh rytes tuh podder ‘n primer, I bought reloading gear, learned to use it and set about creating my own stash.

I haven’t needed to buy factory ammo in 4 years. I could go several years with just what’s at hand. This is shooting life. Embrace it and you’ll be much happier.

I personally have shifted from accumulating to enjoying. I don’t want my kids to inherit kegs of useless fertilizer.

Im just happy to be this side of the dirt..ya all.
The rest will take care of itself...lol

Having been on the opposite side of vertical or upright ,Twice , I concur !.

Can't stress strongly enough ,how vital it is for everyone to get Lab work done at least once a year !.
Correct errors IF possible before they become permanent , it's what Physicians do BEST !. They CAN'T fix what's wrong if they don't have the bloodprint !.

Completely guilty of the above description and not ashamed. I don’t have a crystal ball but I am old enough to see a storm coming off in the distance and prepare to take shelter before getting rained upon. I built my stash starting with a College course in shortages by William Jefferson Clinton upped the ante when things got back to somewhat normal pricing and availability wise under Barack Hussein Obama and really filled the barn under Donald J Trump. I saw the storm coming. I bought easily 95% of my stuff when it was just as easy for me to buy it as anybody else with some extra coin in pocket and a lot of times with free shipping and/or on sale. I do feel for the younger men and women that have not been through this circus before. Chances are availability will get better, it already has somewhat but as far as prices go I really doubt much if any lower prices.
I’m shocked this thread took a whole 2 posts to get political. Lol.

So whats the NUMBER the line that makes you a hoarder say primers for instance

1000
5000
20,000
50,000
1,000,000

Or is it just someones opinion/belief that labels you a hoarder based on their inability to
gather nuts.
Hmmm god question, I think maybe 25K or above.

Back when I shot the 14 in matches. I bought 64 pounds at a time 10K primers for the competition 14s. People asked how many rounds would it take to burn up a 14 barrel. My answer - 32 pounds. I dedicate 32 pounds and 5K primers for every new barrel. I never worry about detailed round count. Shooting in matches is easy to keep track of round counts, in training it is easy to lose count. When the primers are gone, time to grab gun #2 to be primary, #1. Send the other for rebarreling. #3 now becomes the back up.

Yes, I was hoarding, typical year was close to 2 barrel consumption.

Try having three family members shooting…..never ending quest for components, reloading, cleaning, tuning, etc. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Normally I buy 5,000 or 10,000 at a time. I bought 30,000 Tula lrmp for myself once. I'm top heavy on LRMP and shoot more srmp these days. I will trade 5000 Tula lrmp for 5000 srp or srmp here in North Central Florida. Within reasonable driving distance ftf.

Shooting is not a need, it is a want. Even a subsistence hunter that relies on what he kills to eat can probably get by for a year with 20-30 rounds. Even at these prices that is still doable. The rest is a want! suck it up you will live if you don't shoot for a while.

I’m a prepper, not a hoarder. Sitting on 60 plus pounds of Varget, Retumbo, and H1000. Started after Obama took office. Now it’s fun watching the non-preppers grovel and whine about no components. The only thing I can’t seem to find is time. A shortage of time to reload and time to shoot. Maybe when I get done with two house remodels, time will be on my side…

Finding balance is always a challenge…

I've shot and reloaded 3 times in 7 days. I don't need to buy. Last week I started reloading in my new 12x16 building. It has everything I need in it for now. 43" TV is next on my list.

I figure that, for reloading components, it's somewhere between ~2-3yrs of shooting as frequently as one hopes to. I've got several years' worth of components, right now, and sufficient ammo for a couple of years of plinking with my most-used sidearms. For me, anyhow, that's about the minimum. More, if seeing the "writing on the wall" for negative changes coming 'round the bend.

Once had over 10,000 rounds ready go to, in my primary carry sidearm's caliber. But then, I was often shooting 1000rds a month, or more, back then. Keeping up with it, and expanding that stash, took some time.

Of course, everybody's different.

In case anyone was wondering ; Doc preps to hoard :) Lol . When components are reasonable ,is when you should purchase . It's not anyone but the manufacturers fault when they advertise SALE !.
I just became weary of a LGS ,who never seemed to have more than a couple of cartons of primers ,oh I can just order in some more next week for you . So one day I thought I wonder what a pallet cost ,they DON'T go bad if stored indoors . Geezus the LGS was marking them up a bunch , so I contacted the manufacturer actually a few of them . Yeah oh why sure we can do that ,you send us payment we'll ship to your door , #8 days later I was on the forklift unloading them . I did another and sold nearly half of them to our club members the first weekend . After all they allowed Me to group buy on 40 Tons of shot and pallets of #20 & #12 gauge shotshells all delivered , so turn about is fair play Eh .
