help! stuck case in redding body die!!

hello,

so i was bumping some shoulders in my redding body die and a case got stuck. I cant get it out?

what do i do to get it out?

anyone? what really sucks is that its a brand new body die i just got?

Find a punch that will fit thru the top of the die and then put the die in the freezer for an hr or so and then try and knock it out.

Normally they get stuck because there is too little or NO lube on the case. RCBS has a "stuck case remover" tool specifically for such an event. I am sure there are others, but I know RCBS does have one.

I did one once, about when they came out with the model "T" Ford... I promised my self, "Never again!"

I just removed a stuck 221 in a Redding full length sizer using the utube link provided by 22Dasher. Most of the back portion of the case was destoyed by trying to remove it with a visegrip pliers. The procedure worked well. I used a little Kroil where the case met the die and let soak in overnight . Thanks for your contribution to the forum. Bruce

We've all shared your grief at one time or another. SO try a few of the suggested remedies. If none of those are successful, get hold of Erik Cortina. He's down in Texas as well and perhaps he can give you hand with all his wonders. Just a thought and good luck with that miserable stuck case in removing it. And might I also suggest that the next time you use a Body Die, use RCBS Lube 2 (be liberal with it) which does wonders for tight fits in resizing.

What Alex said... In 2010/2011, I reloaded 18 tons (36,000 pounds) of 223/5.56x45 and used RCBS-II. We bought it in gallon jugs.

We did not stick a single case.

Applying a small amount of lube to the inside of any sizing die with a Q-Tip from time to time helps prevent problems like this, especially if new or freshly cleaned. Well worth doing if you start to feel a little more resistance on cases as you go. Some dies just need a little lube AHEAD of the case as the lube applied to the case is wiped off as it's sized.

got the case out thanks to the video that was posted here. Never again will i size cases with little lube. it was a pain to get it out.
