Help - Ring Around the Bullet?

I think the problem was identified, a compressed load. If you want to use this load try using a long drop tube. Maybe that will compact the powder enough to seat the bullet without ringing it.Also check for doughnuts that could cause excessive seating resistance.

Aside from maybe not being chamfered enough, it also appears the neck needs some trimming. How thick is the reading on it ? Keep it around .012 or so, that will also help.

I removed the "button" from the seating stem... spun it in my drill press and wrapped 400 grit around one of the match bullets I was getting the marks on. Poof! No more marks.

It is doable, just have a look at all the big backsides sporting stretch pants next time you are out a shopping mall….
