Help a Yankee move south!

I am in the Knoxville, Tn Area. Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association is a nice facility, but with a very large membership roster that stays very busy. Rutherfordton, NC is close to Piedmont Gun Club which is a very nice facility with 600yd available, but with very limited membership. Polk County is also close by and holds F-Class matches but they are limited to 300yd.

All in all, Western NC/East TN is a great area with plenty of opportunities to shoot. If you get down this way and end up interested in trying Cast Bullet Benchrest, let me know. We shoot at Piedmont Gun Club every month!

I might be ignorant but I’m waiting to meet one. Blissfully waiting.
Since you're from Wyoming I can understand you not meeting one....Yet. I'm not going to look up the numbers, but I think California has more conservatives than just about any other state. More idiots too! I think it's the same all over the country, big cities have the votes and control everything. I live in a pretty red area, our sheriff has told the feds to fornicate with themselves more than once, but the cities are where the problem is for the most part

Wow. I guess Barry McGuire had it right.

And think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
Ah, you may leave here for four days in space
But when you return, it's the same old place
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace
Hate your next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace

I think it might benefit a few of you to pick up a Bible. Love God and love your neighbor. We all have rights and the right to believe in what we choose. Instead of hating on the big city transplants, whose mind you will never change, try to focus on getting your like minded friends who have never voted to the polls. There are many of them out there and their votes are the solution to saving our country.

I've moved quite a few "Yanks" to SEGA over the years, and the stream has definitely picked up over the last two. Almost to a man, they loved God and guns. They talk funny, but otherwise they fit in pretty well (other than a few being a bit of know-it-alls). I have stayed in touch with most and have even shot guns with a few.

Hi all, Let's get the hate messages out of the way first, ( I am from Massachusetts). My wife is planning on retiring after the first of the year. Thinking of mid to western North Carolina, possibly Tennessee. South Carolina or Georgia are not out of the equation either. Not Florida! Here is what we are thinking maybe an over 55 community, or nice neighborhood not looking for a lot of land or maintenance, Have a heart condition so don't want to leave her with a lot to maintain. Now the most important part, gun clubs. I have been shooting firearms as far back as I can remember I am 65 Have been an NRA pistol instructor for the past 14 years and 6 years ago my friends and I started shooting 600 yard F-class. I would like to be within an hour drive of a club that I can join as a member, not interested in a pay as you go range. Would like a club that puts on frequent matches 600 yard & or 1000, always willing to help out with matches. We plan on taking a ride down that way end of October and getting a feel for the area. Thanks for any input or suggestions. Just please don't tell me to stay in Massachusetts, this state is to liberal for me!!!!! Thanks Again Dave.
As a Tarheel, I’m partial to Greensboro.
Have you considered Idaho?

SC, at least the coastal areas I am familiar with are plagued by traffic problems, high property costs, and rising property taxes. Thy hadn't planned for and aren't / weren't ready for the influx. I get sick every time I see a large tract of land cut into 1/4 acre lots and filled with cracker box houses. Then, throw in terrible heat and humidity on top of all that. I wouldn't move to the coast of SC because of those things.
Amen brother. First 25yrs of my life were in Charleston. Presently, from 17A to the ocean the Charleston Area is one continuous traffic jam.
With reference to moving: lf it ain't got prairie dogs l ain't interested

Is Hawks Ridge a club with open membership or a private range that hosts matches?
Not sure as I have only been out once for a steel match but I hear people on their Facebook page talking about going and shooting so I think it might be private club that hosts matches for anyone.

I feel like I am missing something, some of these gun clubs that have been suggested seem to be geared more toward Bench Rest and PRS, I am more of an F-Class prone shooter, more thoughts and suggestions although I do like shooting at steel getting in some of those positions required for PRS may be an issue. Thanks for all your suggestions and thoughts. Dave
