Headspace in Lathe - Depth Mic, Dial Indicator, Or??

To Dave-- thank you for all the help. i have appreciated it-- i did find an interesting article as i was looking through some back issues of PS lately:)

I would to have a copy of this article. Way back I received PS, even had two articles published. But gave it up when I retired.

Any takers? I will pay for your effort.

Very nice check fixture. You should sell those brother. I would think Brownells would jump all over those.

Send me quote for one. Haha
Ask and ye shall receive. I use one every day. Itll measure headspace, cones, anything you need

An old pic of my tools. I have one with 16tpi and 18tpi. Mine screws on and I use the headspace go gauge and I actually have 2 of the little valve looking tools with different angles to measure bolt nose clearance. Write it all in your little black book and you will never need the receiver when chambering another barrel. The 12 vertical lines on the OD lets me line up the lettering on the barrel so I can mark the new one in the same location.

I also made one that screws on but relieved the front part of the thread so it's approx. 3 turns on a Nesika tenon.
I need to mark mine like yours so I can index the barrel markings.

Another couple tools that I use are the inserts that thread into a Panda and a Stiller Viper. Although the TPI is the same, the pitch diameter is a little different. Beside being a thread check gauge for those 2 receivers, the right one works with the Bat and Borden. Nice to have if you are chambering a glue in or do not have the receiver in hand.

Now see? THATS the kind of stuff someone should be making for gunsmiths.

Have you got a pic of those?
That sounds like something similar to what I've got for measuring a Teddy.
